I played a teensy bit more of this last night, one multiplayer match and a few attempts at some of the training levels, which I'm finding a little bit addictive.

I'm absolutely baffled how people are doing some of these levels in literally half the time I'm doing them in! I've got a couple of silver medals, but sheesh!

I tried to join somebody's in-progress game, but as I've not started the campaign yet, I got the message "You cannot join as you have not yet completed this level". I understand why they're encouraging you to work through the whole game, but it's a bit of a shame it's not completely drop-in.

If this was the first LP game and they'd marketed it like Left 4 Dead, would it have had more favourable reviews? Single player in L4D is pretty fun-free, but in co-op, it's one of the best games I've ever played.

If people were looking at LP2 expecting a co-op bias, would they have gotten more out of it?

I'm still enjoying it, but really have only seen the tippy-top of the iceberg so far!

Mnaged to get co-op running with someone and am now up to Episode 5-1. Thankfully the 3-3 gun boss was drawn out but not too hard as we were pretty much on the case throughout. There still doesn't seem to many people playing this on co-op so there can be a fair bit of waiting around for a decent game. The mp is still losing my interest though

Clocked it last night on normal overall time 7hrs 30 mins. The first couple of chapters were solo, while the other four were just with randoms. Surprisingly short although I know I'll be ploughing through the co-op campaign over and over, guess it's a bit like L4D in that respect.

Capcom have made some strange design decisions in this game. Why, for instance, is there no way to filter online co-op games so that only those with players in standby are shown? On multiple occasions I've found myself sitting there just refreshing the list until a game came up that I could join. And their online menus as a whole are a tad user unfriendly, frequently dumping you back to the menu if game is full or connection is lost whereby you have to pick your settings again before starting over. It would have made sense to have the game default to the chapter you're on, to save faffing about with game settings each time.

And don't get me started on the Jackpot and Noms de Guerre "What do we want?" Guns. "What do we get?" Silly names mostly.

Still, gripes aside I've really been enjoying it and can see myself sticking with it online for some time.

            Ha ha ha,

I'm currently "Least useful player" or "Scapegoat"!

I think I'll have to start tucking into the campaign as Training and Multiplayer will always be waiting for me.

Can't wait! Sadly, I'm away all weekend!

I seem to be the only one rocking the Femme Fatale Wesker, its too funny seeing him bussin that pose in the lobby and I make sure to do the Sparkles emote over my victims bodies at every opportunity...especially on the Cube map when the announcer shouts SUPPEH! I also like to go to the corner of the map and get in a huff, sat down below my storm cloud when doing badly. Thought it best to change my Noms de Guerre from 'looking for love' tho

                It's the 360 version I have.

Anyone else notice the Kill Big trailer refers to a mode where you can kill Akrid on one of the multiplayer maps. I didn't think there were any such modes, am I missing something?

This is my game of the year so far. Love it
It's cured my addiction to IL2 Birds Of Prey which has been lodged in my PS3 since I finished Uncharted 2
I really don't understand the difficulty critisims. I have seen some tough battles but enjoyably tough, not in any way frustrating.
Graphics and sound are polished to perfection and controls allow extreme control with some analogue stick clicks deploying last resort vs weapons.
I bought the original on PS3 and 360 and I am thinking of following suit with this one too.
                    Great stuff Capcom

It's good fun when playing in multilayer, especially with your mates. Playing on your own will result in head against the brick wall time, mind you.

So I bought it and... hmmm, after struggling through the first two chapters I can certainly see some of the criticisms. Horrible presentation, in that the menus are pretty unintuitive, the story's the same nonsense it was in the first, the missions pretty much leave you to get on with it and the game's clearly designed with an eye to multiplayer first and foremost. And the AI is indeed pretty dire.

But the controls and the gunplay are as much of a joy as ever they were; there's no other shooter feels quite this solid, weighty... maybe Killzone 2? And the Framework engine's still a little rough around the edges, but it's one of the best current-gen efforts from a Japanese developer. I'm a little disappointed Capcom don't really seem to have addressed the faults from the original, and I can understand people getting pissed off with them, but the spark's still there.

I'm trying to see a bit of the campaign single-player, maybe see how much I can take before the AI has me facepalming my nose into my brain, but I'll be up for co-op soon enough. (Apologies to MrBubbles; completely missed your message coming up. <_< )

Hmmm. Campaign's definitely got its ups and downs. I think I'm coming up on the train boss fight (God save me) and, well, at its best so far the feel of the gunplay and the scale of the action is certainly quite something (still one of the greatest shotties in any game, period ), and the experience of it - the music, the 'splosions, the sheer chaos - does seem to have been beefed up considerably from the first game.

But the enemy AI is still abysmal and the mission design prone to some hideous, grating errors of judgement - just been through a few of the levels in the second episode and I've had enemies stuck in place, spawning out of thin air in front of me, walking straight into my line of fire over and over again, rooted to the spot letting me glitch them to death by popping in and out of a sliver of cover... not every now and then, either. Near constantly. I am enjoying it, and there's few if any games quite like it, but this simply is not good enough, and anyone who just waves it away ('Oh, I never saw that' / 'Didn't bother me' /etc., etc.) is simply too easily pleased. There's no other word for it. Have the guts to design it solely as an online multiplayer title, Capcom, and/or learn how to do AI, and if you can come up with some of the best deathmatch levels going for the first game, how come you can end up with some of the laziest, blandest, most obviously copy-and-pasted corridor maps going for the campaign in the second? Some of it's fantastic, yes, but not all. And if it's all about the bosses, why bother to include anything else? Worked for Shadow of the Colossus.

I think, based on what I've played so far, that the reviews have given it a biiit too much of a kicking, but the flaws are there - that's pretty much a statement of fact - and it's annoying Capcom have gone so Michael Bay (and I like Michael Bay), pumped up the pyrotechnics to 11 and seemingly just ignored the stuff that was badly in need of some attention.

Not really getting into Ranked MP matches much. There is an inability to fire at someone who is already hitting you with their fire, so if you spawn right next to someone and they turn around and start shooting at you, you are screwed. Also the way that the lobby is ditched after the match completes is a stupid design choice.

Very frustrating and not much fun.

Unless they've taken away the invincibility when you spawn in ranked for some weird reason, that's not the case.

The stun never bothered me in the first game, and it's not as if I'm that great - I was on the receiving end many, many times... I dunno, it just never felt particularly unfair. Run or roll away.

On the other hand, I haven't played multi in the full game yet (just co-op), so I don't know your particular complaint with the lobbies, but the menus are certainly awful. Really poorly designed.
