It looked great when I saw it for the first time last week but this thread gave it a bit of a lukewarm reception at first - is it really that good?

It's like a cross between excite bike and Trials HD, but with platform elements thrown in. You literally steer him back/forward in mid-air as though it's a platformer.

It's great. I guess you could say it's slightly pricy, but everyone who's seen it round mine loves it.

its a pretty solid game and for an indie team of only 4 chaps is very polished.

we played a bit of multiplayer yesterday which was quite fun, though frame rate did get a bit choppy which is odd as its shouldn't really be maxxing out the PS3

overall I quite like it but in a 6-7/10 kind of way, lacks something that has me enthusing over it like say Trials, not comparing the game type directly just saying it lacks a certain something I can't put my finger on.

That doesn't tell me much unfortunately as I haven't played either of those. Everyone seems to be describing this game in terms of Trials HD :/

I like platforming though, might just take the plunge even sans demo.

It's a great game, not played trials HD, but I love this game, very moreish just one more go type of game!

There's a nice variety to each stage as well, some are trick combo levels, some are coin collection, some are landing on target pads, racing against CPU racers, while others are time based.

            Well worth ?10

Trials HD wouldn't really help you apart from the fact that you're moving left to right on a bike. Trials HD was really challenging in that it could be really difficult getting to the end of the track whereas in this I've not really had any difficulties at all.

If you crash, you just start from the last checkpoint and there's no time limit to complete the level.

In this the real aim is to earn Gold Stars by completing Challenges as these are your currency for unlocking further events. As an example, you can have Challenges such as:
              • Collect The Letters D-A-N-G-E-R
              • Collect All 210 Silver Stars
              • Complete The Level in Under 90 Seconds
              • Find A Hidden Star
              • 100% Combo The Level
              • Hit All The Targets

Each of those would unlock a Gold Star. They aren't that difficult but some of the Challenges will be combinations of these so to win a Gold Star you may need to: 100% Combo The Level, Complete The Level in Under 90 Seconds & Collect All 210 Silver Stars and that's where it can start getting tricky.

You may have already seen it but watch the IGN review which I've just realised covers most of what I've said.

Notice at about 40 seconds and 65 seconds where he's navigating around one of the levels and think of the controls as something along the lines of Sonic. You can go backwards and forwards and also have a double jump to get you higher.

Under-statement of the decade perhaps? ****ing nightmare would've been my description.

its on 360 so that's makes it better

"Hello Games has made minor tweaks, tightening the bike handling and drastically reducing load times, but overall it's mostly the same experience. Joe Danger veterans will want to head straight to The Lab, a series of brand-new, challenging levels that were originally created by the development team to test the game's controls. They've blown these test levels out into their own experience, complete with traditional objectives as well as the new pro medals. These are only unlocked if you satisfy every other course objective in a single run, so they'll be badges of honor that prove your mastery of the game's controls."
