I'm playing it on the PS3 mate, so I presume it's L2 when translated, as L1 is aim.

Will give it a go and report back how awesome I found it!

Also, is there a sniper rifle to be found in the demo? I seem to remember using one in tutorial, but not in the game section.

When you enter the plaza at the start of the demo go right and up the stairs. There is a sniper.

I really like this demo still, but I can't help to think its actually full of gimmicks. The speed boost isn't that handy except for quicker navigating and looking more OTT than regular roadie running. The slow-mo is handy for lining up your aim, but not much else it seems. Its not like Bayonetta where enemies slow down but you keep your regular pace thus being at a massive advantage. The Melee looks cool, but is incredibly risky because you'll be a sitting duck for quite a second afterwards. Not recommended when being surrounded, while Melee is usually something that comes in handy while being surrounded such as in RE5.

I think or hope that all those factors will actually be useful when you progress further into the game. Melee does stun those bigger mech enemies for example. Perhaps it will be a livesaver later on.

        From the start
Go up the first set of long steps
Up the next set of steps past the exploding barrels
Go through the entrance into the arena and straight ahead and slightly to the left there are a set of steps
Go up these and along the platform and the rifle is at the end

Oh and R3 increases your Zoom

I had been eagerly waiting to play this but my gold subscription expired the day before the demo was released, so haven't played it as yet. It's almost been a week so not long now.

It seems to be getting good reviews from you guys which is a good sign.

Didn't realise you could get him smoking by pressing LB - did it last night and it's a nice little touch. Thought it rather refreshing too in this age where we're encouraged to stone smokers to death.

Hey Charlie if you enjoyed that, check out the initial install animation for MGS4 (that is, if you haven't already). It's fab. The Japanese love to smoke!

Wo! just had a quick bash at this - the op is spot on with the influences for this game.
This would rock if it had online co-op.

Possibly slightly off topic (apologies to the mods if so) but Zavvi have Vanquish: Limited Edition with Figurine (Zavvi exclusive) for pre-order

Demo kind of wears off for me. I'm starting to question what the exact use of the slow mo and melee are. Melee makes you a sitting duck, the risk isn't worth the reward. Slow mo makes you and your reloading etc slower too.

Possibly easier headshots etc, fair enough. But in a game like this I don't really care for scoring and style bonus as much as in a DMC game. Boosting isn't that useful either it seems, except for quick advancing. Its not that wise to boost into a group of enemies.

Really just eye candy, or will the full game show otherwise?

Should have guessed you'd be all over that Mr B., with your penchant for action figures.

I've played it a few times now and I really like it. The tutorial is a must as there are many control options to get used to. After doing all of them the first time I went into the game and was completely overwhealmed, lasted barely a minute. Went back and practised a bit more, trying to remember everything and eventually worked out how best to attack and survive.

Once you get the hang of it it's a lot of fun and like Bayonetta it's very slick and quite manic at times. I like all the variations in attack as it mixes it up a bit and doesn't force you to play a particular way, ie just shoot and run. Loved taking down one of those walkers and getting it in and turning it on them and getting up close for the boss battle doing the QTE was cool.

I'm also a little underwhealed by the boosting element as I found very little use or benefit of it during the gameplay. Maybe during the full game there will be more opportunity to use it.

I found the boost pretty good for getting out of tight situations quickly but, as you allude to, I suspect the full game will demand more of the boost than that.
