I've done the first 2 missions, onto the 3rd. So far it feels and looks much better than Halo 3. The aiming feels tighter...jumping feels more controlled, and the graphics just look that much sharper/nicer. Might just be me on the jumping but I definitely noticed a change from playing halo 3 last night.

Hmm. I think Halo 3 still looks great. In some of the more epic moments, it's so busy, and the art direction really good. That attack in the choppers is great, and the big scarab things - epicz.
Though Reach looks like the next level, for sure, I don't think I could agree that Halo 3 looks 'crap' considering all the **** going on. Unlike, say, Nier, which is a bit of a dog's dinner. Now that looks crap!

lolI'd not played it in years. I remember not being too impressed at the time, but yes it had nice art direction (like all Halo titles) and nice lighting (like all Halo titles). Yesterday was my first time playing it on the big screen, and the sub-HD res was really noticeable. Quite surprised how murky it all looked, I'd associated the game with lots of colour, but things were getting lost due to the low resolution.
And yes, the scale is still good, though again not what I recalled.
What's interesting, to go back a few pages to the "You must play Halo games on Heroic or higher!" is that it was the first time I'd played it on Normal, as I was co-oping with a mate who'd just got a 360 online, and isn't really into FPS titles. The second sequence with the big scarab things, there was only one - there were two on Heroic / Legendary. Also at the top of the cliff there were some flying vehicle options I think, to take them on. These were also gone.
So it seems on Normal they scaled back the scale....
