    Gravitron 360

Gravitron 360 is awesome. Is there a thread already that I've missed?

    It's Thrust meets Dropzone.

You get the radar from dropzone and the scientists to pick up.
You get the gun batteries and reactors and caves to navigate and spaceship from Thrust.

Main difference is that rather than just rotating clockwise or anticlock wise, you just point the stick in the direction you want to go and then thrust. Edit: Or you can change it to rotate!!!

Anyone that likes arcade games needs to buy this. And if you weren't alive when Thrust came out then you also need to buy this to see what proper gaming is. No excuses. You aren't a real gamer unless you are playing this* (*or something)

    Did I mention it's 80 points?

After years of playing Thrust, I'm having trouble getting over the controls. I keep trying to spin. Which is making things hard. edit: buy as below, you can change this. doh!

Clearly I'm the only real gamer on the forum.

No, I bought it too. Great game. Spent an hour or so on it after purchase and am looking forward to playing some more when I have a bit of time.

Would have preferred Thrust style controls though.

If you go into the controls options, settings C or D both change the controls so that the left stick rotates the ship instead of making it face whatever direction.

          Problem solved!

Not played it yet but I used to love Thrust on my BBC as a nipper... or was it on the Electron I played it? I remember the poster for the second one on the back of a magazine with a score competition...

              This makes me feel old

This is lovelly, though it's no Oids. I wish someone would port Oids. It has always been the ultimate Thrust clone.

Also, this isn't an XBLA title, it's an XBLIG.

                edit by charlesr: doh thanks.

Bought it last week and it's great that folk still make games like this. Love the neon graphics too. If I had to find fault it's that the learning curve is rather flat, that's not to say it doesn't get difficult - just that it takes it's time getting there.

This is totally awesome. I've not been playing much at all this week, but when I have, it's just this. The reverse thrust is coolness and lends an extra layer of depth. The mines and the evil invaders from Dropzone and the homing missiles to avoid etc.

                      The learning curve is beautiful.

Up to level 27 now and it's tense stuff. FAST homing missiles from nowhere, desperately boosting up out of the atmosphere with a tiny amount of shield left. I've just done a vast level where the whole internal cavern is rotating, but this has no effect on you (apart from disorientation!!!) called Omicron Theta.

Brought in a whole new idea of having to blow up the last generator when the escape tunnel from the cavern is near the top where the planet surface link tunnel is. Otherwise you are stuffed! REALLY cool. I might have to do the review without finishing it because I don't want to rush this. I've seen enough and already got my 80p worth.

Gah. Got to level 37 and then it froze and when I restarted the box I deleted my save by accident instead of continuing, doh.

In a thread on my own.
You can blat through the first 25 levels on easy in about 35mins once you know what's what.
Medium difficulty is a hilarious step up from easy - any impact sends you flying and you have to use shield (which gets done automatically for you on easy), which you swap for fuel.
There are also a 2nd pack of levels I noticed.
