Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 PS3/360

Had this on preorder for a while now as the 1st one was not only the best Naruto games out there and not only 1 of the best looking PS3 games ever imo but just a solid and fun fighting game overall.

This time round they have covered Naruto Shippuuden right up to where the anime currently is in japan, the game plays pretty much the same as the first one but this time the game has Team Ultimate Jutsu's and pretty much entire new moves sets for every character.

As well as the update to the fighting side of things the Story mode now feels very RPG-ish with fantastic hi res 2D backgrounds with 3D sprites and is now separated into areas rather than being a full 3D city, this captures the anime look perfectly and it works much better imo.

So far it seems the 1p game follows the anime perfectly with a ton of extra missions thrown in as per usual, there are now materials to collect so you can build new items and you also have a friendship system for the people who join you. You can also now use any team of 3 characters you have with you on non story missions, which is nice as the first game did get a little tiresome using Naruto over and over.

The story scenes/fights are now even more spectacular with some very nice QTE scenes which again mimic the anime to perfection! I haven't tried online yet as i'm gonna focus on the Story to get everyone and their jutsu's unlocked, but so far it feels like the 1st one but with just so much much more!

Anyone else pick it up?

Do I stil have to play the utterly dull "walk around town" thing? I'm hoping there's an arcade battle mode and online fighting.

You have to do the Story mode to unlock everything but like i said no 3D town anymore instead its more like an RPG with static BG's.

Arcade and Online are there but you still need to do story to unlock everyone.

The single player is nicely done. Some really nice effects and sense of scale in the fights. The battle at the end of the prologue was cool.

Shame online seems to already be full of Chidori spamming Sasuke players. Waste of time going online just to get cheesed Every. Single. Fight.

The story fights just get better and better, the only things that are a let down for me at the moment are the ultimate jutsu's they're really short and nowhere near on the level of the first game, i'm hoping there are more to unlock further into the game.

Had this sitting half finished for a while, just completed it this evening. All i can say is any company that decides to make a game based from an anime should look at this game to see how it's done right.

Really is like playing an interactive anime so much care was taken to stay true to everything from the graphics to the decision to give us the chance of original Japanese voices, the story pretty much follows the pain arc spot on. Was awesome reliving the battle but been in control this time i still love how at the good bits, it switches to QTE's for maximum drama.

Now continuing the game from post story mode as theres still loads to unlock. A definate 9/10 for me, wonder what the 3rd game is like? Seen it's out but not heard much on it.
