I played it in a weird order though, 2 then 3 then 1... I enjoy them all tbh, but I enjoyed the big mechedness of 2, and the realistic setting, then the story and battle system in 3, and it's mentionsto xenogears like Maria turning up - was right up my street!

There were a lot of links to Xenogears in the series. I have really wanted to play both Gears and Saga lately but that is 200 hours of gaming.

You should at least play Xenogears, it's an undisputed classic (albeit a flawed one because of it running out of money/time).

I've completed it twice over the years anyway. Never thought I would fancy it again but I really have been. Perfect PSP fodder.

Is there any waving around if you play with wii mote?

No, nothing like that. It plays a lot better with the conventional pad to be honest.

I do love the vast-ness of the earlier locations. Makes me realise why I used to love JRPG's of the past, instead of the narrow corridor > cutscene > corridor scenario we've had with Final Fantasy XIII. Which reminds me to dig out Tales of Vesperia and finish that off, since I've barely got halfway through with that.

But hot-damn, some tough ass mobs that smell the fear in you and chase you down

I fancy buying a controller pro for this and the other two operation rainfall games (Go, Go USA! Initial sales for Chronicles look excellent...) but the internet shops I looked at says it still needs to be plugged in via a wiimote. Is that true? I want to be sticking it in the front of the machine old fashioned style and have done. Can't be arsed to be keeping an eye on the Wiimote batteries needed to broadcast it the 2 or 3 meters to my Wii. Especially for the zillions of hours required to enjoy JRPGs.

                /offtopic apologies

My sentiments exactly. Was hoping the CCPro plugged into the machine directly, but alas no, gotta plug it into the Wiimote, which kind of negates the point.

is there a 3rd party controlled which plugs into the Wii itself?

Has anyone got their copy yet?

I've heard rumours it does not work with the GC pad, and yet I'm still hopeful this is incorrect. Can anyone confirm 100%?

Wiimote batteries last ages, especialy when using a classic controller and not motion controls. Its only like using Batteries in a 360 pad, its not a big deal at all, seems like an odd complaint to me really.

As for third party controllers, simply put even if there are any you dont want one. The Classic Controller pro is absolubtley fantastic and everyone who has a Wii needs one.

Suggesting that it's daft to be broadcasting wirelessly from a couple of meters (I don't live in a mansion) when you could just plug it in via USB doesn't seem an odd complaint to me. Anyway, it's less about batteries. I don't like having the Wiimote tethered if I'm not using it for gameplay. It's just an un-used controller flopping around and getting in the way.

That said: looks like I'll be needing the Classic Pro...

                      /off-topic apologies again!

Gameworld looks incredible. Id love to see it on PS3/360 but obviously it won't happen.

It might get in the way a bit, but no more than a wire attached to the console does (especialy in this day and age when we are generaly used to no wires at all with mondern controllers). I usualy just have the Wiimote resting in my lap or by my side while Im using the classic controller and almost instantly forget its there. Its not a distraction at all really.

Anyway, getting back on topic with the game Ive put a few hours into this and think its absolubtley fantastic so far. I do miss the days when you had full party control in JPRG battles (as those seem to be long gone really) but the battle system here is relativley enjoyable and just about deep enough to never get dull. So far I seem to have absolubtley no control over what the second and third members of my party are doing though, does this change as I get further into the game? Or does each character just have a specific role in the party in regards to how they act in battles?

The immediately open feel of this instantly reminds me of the best parts of Final Fantasy XIII while the more traditional structure and actual inclusion of towns reminds me of what was lacking from that game.

As mentioned above the gameworld does look good, it is just a shame that its not on a console that can really do it justice. it is without a doubt the best Wii game I have played in an absolubte age though, so at least its giving my console some use.

I couldn't within the menus if you could change specific character AI tendancies.
It's a shame there's no 'gambit system' system like in FFXII, but I've found (so far) the team members do a decent job. Like one of the first techniques you learn is 'Break' (Shulk) > 'Topple' (Reyn) and Ryen seems to do a decent enough job to follow up the combo, once you've initiated the first phase.

At the moment I've recruited another character other than
and they do have specific roles for the time being.

Played a couple of hours. Enjoying it a lot, it's a very well produced games and the characters seem likable.

                                QUESTION:
Is this one of those 5 language jobs, with the little flags on the back of the box?

IOf so i reckon I'll go round my French local store and trade in some crap for a boxed copy with the special controller.

Regarding this special edition, does it contain a normal DVD case inside the cardboard box? I ask in case I buy it, but want to later resell the game on its own. Postage would be high the pad, sop reckon I'll sell the inner case.
