    Ghost Trick

Popped through my letterbox yesterday and I've put a few hours into it now.

The game is fundamentally a story driven puzzle game. You died and you have to find out why by possessing objects and interacting with them. What makes it interesting is that you can only possess nearby objects so you're constantly trying to find a way to a certain place.

Occasionally you come across someone who has been killed and you have the ability to travel back in the four minutes before their death in order to prevent it from happening. You have rather smart interactions between the objects you can possess, the killer and the person you are trying to save (who is oblivious to you). You often have to time certain actions perfectly and to set up objects so they set a chain of events in motion. Every time you alter history, you get a checkpoint you can rewind to if you fail, this helps lessen the irritation of having to keep sitting through long cut scenes over and over.

The puzzles are really clever and creative without being too abstract, sometimes a little, subtle action is required, sometimes you need to do something big and flashy. It doesn't look like the game will get repetative.

The thing about the game that deserves the most praise is the animation. Silky smooth and full of character, it's brilliant to watch, no two characters move the same and they have their own unique personality. They're not amazingly detailed (they're probably rotoscoped) but they're probably the finest example of animation on the DS.

Bad points? You can't speed up the animation in the time travel bits. This could potentially get irritating as the puzzles get tougher and you have to keep restarting.

Not exactly a bad point but it's amusing how a game that looks absolutely nothing like Phoenix Wright, plays nothing like Phoenix Wright, still somehow manages to feel exactly like a game from the makers of Phoenix Wright (which it is).

You can skip the fmv's(phoneline & time reversal) and dialogue. Just press the b or a button.

Loving the game, genuinely intriguing and witty story. Can't put it down. The only problem I can think of is that once it's over, it's over and there won't be any point in replaying it.

You can skip the dialogue and video sequences but you can't skip or speed up the animations (which are the most time consuming things in the 4 minute bits)

I'm really enjoying this, have to say. The whole concept is genius and feels unique- possessing objects is great fun!

And anyone who owns a dog will completely fall in love with Missile!

Missile genuinly made me laugh out loud. This is the first game in ages that has acually made me do that, whereas usually i have a slight chuckle or murmur in my brain.

Wasn't the dog in the first phoenix wright game called the same?

I actually had to laugh when Missile launched himself against the door.
Kind of disappointing how short the game is. Nevertheless the writing and animation are topnotch.

I thought the length for what it is was just about right. Just finished this myself, loved it from beginning to end. Heres hoping they make another title with the option for DLC.

                    Yes, hence my comment

How short is short btw? Not that it'll matter too much as I'm getting it regardless...

Well it took me ~3 days/weekend, so maybe it wasn't actually that short. To me, anything that requires less than 3 days, is/feels short.

Right, this game has got me in the mood to play Pheonix Wright. I only ever played through Ace Attourney, which one out of the series should i play next?

Justice for all is the second one. The games all follow on from each other so you miss character introductions and bits of plot if you play out of order.

Although Justice for All is my least favourite of the three Pheonix games, as abigsmurf said, it has to be played second. But don't give up, the third game, Trials and Tribulations, is one of my favourite games of all time, the story is truly brilliant.

I don't count the Apollo Justice game.

Yeah, the third one easily has the best overall plot of the games.
