    Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars (3DS)

Dont know how many people are actualy interested in this game as it seems to be one of the least popular 3DS launch titles as far as what people are buying goes but I think everyone should take notice, as its wrth peoples time.

Its a top turn turn based strategy game with light Rpg elements as you use stars you earn from completing objectives to upgrade your characters. As far as battles go it plays and looks kinda like a modern military version of Fire Emblem and its awesome.

The use of 3d is very good, it doesnt really effect the way it plays and is actualy quite subtle but at the same time it adds real depth to the image as you look down on the action. For instance alot of the missions have bridges in them and as you look bellow them you really do get a good impression of how steep the drop is and becuase of this I actualy started to get the urge to poke my finger into the screen and down into them. Its very impressive stuff, especialy considering this is a launch title and I can only imagine games will use the technology even more impressivley as developers really get to grips with its potential.

The game seems to be really big, Ive played quite a few missions and still only done 3% so i imagine its gonna take a long time to get through, especialy if you want to get a gold medal on all the levels which means completing it at the highest difficulty, and thats not even mentioning the single player skirmish mode or the multiplayer, theres loads of content here.

Overall its fantastic and Im a bit worried that I wont be able to put it down now for when Crisis 2 arives tomorrow.

There are 36 main missions. 20 additional skirmish missions and 10 multiplayer missions. As I've been saying for the past week, it really is very, very good indeed. Glad to see someone else feeling the love.

There's a story mode and multiplayer but the multiplayer is a simple pass the 3DS to your mate and take turns, no local or internet multiplayer. No voice acting in the game, all textual dialog but man, the 3d is incredible. When you look at it it's like there's a little world inside your 3ds (as someone else previously commented I think). It's superbly done. I'm only a couple of hours in but I like the mechanics. They're not overwhelming but you are forced to think. 3 difficulties and they can be chosen on a per-mission basis. It defaults to rookie and that's what I'm choosing because traditionally I've had trouble with strategy games. Really enjoying it and highly recommended. Cheers to rmoxon, Herbalizer and Strider for giving me the heads up on this as there's very little promotion of this game and I'd never have even bothered looking otherwise.

I've played about an hour and a half and it still says I've done 0% so yeah, a big game i think!

Is it true the Gollop Brothers helped develop this?

It sure is! Well, one of them at least.

I played this on the train home last night - and honestly, it's ace.

Tactical, obvious, well designed, graphically nice (screenshots and videos DO NOT do this game justice) - this is a great game for showing off the 3DS apart from it's lack of wireless multiplayer and street pass (which is a damned shame).

Personally, I hope they're already working on a sequel.. I'm loving this and can't wait for the train home tonight

Just done the first two missions and its lovely. The 3d is gorgeous in it and makes the levels spring to life. Loving it

Guy I sit next to at work is a complete naysayer regarding the 3ds (much like I was 48 hours ago). Just handed him this game and watched the smile spread across his face.

I simply have to save my Ghosts from the commies because they are real little people living inside my 3DS.

For those interested Eurogamer say 7/10.

Which from the enthusiasm so far and knowing the general quality, sounds too low, but we'll see whenever I get a 3DS...

I think the reviews are saying it's solid and fun, but lacking that final spark that would push it into the kind of scores that Tactics Ogre is getting on the PSP, for example.

Just getting to the end of chapter 4 now. The story is getting a bit more interesting, but it's the gameplay mechanics that make this ace.

Just did a mission where you just have 3 people to control. Man that was scarily tense

No doubt some of the enjoyment I'm getting from it is down to the 3ds itself so 7/10 is probably fair IMO form what I've played so far.

GamesTM were a little more enthusiastic and gave it 8. I've decided to order it. Hoping my console turns up Monday, looking forward to playing this.

I had an unexpected error whilst on second mission. Screen went black and bottom screen told me to hold power button and retry. Gulp...

Just did a skirmish on medium difficulty. Not too tough. Tried again on hardest and the enemy can travel further each go and has greater range with their shots so previous strategy no longer works. Great stuff.
