While i've not played too many Dynasty Warriors / Samurai Warriors type games in the past, I've always enjoyed them whenever I've had the chance so I was really looking forward to getting this one on launch.
I had a brief play on this in the early hours of this morning, and I've played through the first 2 missions on Normal difficulty, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
The first thing that you'll notice is how well they've put the 3D effect to use here. No matter how far you've got the slider up or down, it looks pretty much perfect, and the layering on menus, cutscenes, characters etc, all looks spot on.
It's standard DW affair. You're hacking and slashing through the levels with awesome combos while different missions are given to you with different completion and bonus requirements which you've then got to fulfill. Different combos have different uses such as juggling generals up in the air and launching bladed projectiles out at crowds of enemies, it's all great fun.
Ultimate musou attacks look superb in 3D too. Wowowow.
While I don't know if this is completely new to the series or not, the one part I REALLY like is the way you can switch between up to 4 different generals on the fly. When you're controlling one, you can issue orders to the other generals you're partnered with and tell them where to go or what to attack, but at any time you can change over and control them, so it helps a lot with battlefield coverage.
My only gripe with this is the unskippable cutscenes, but thankfully they aren't too long so it's forgiven.
Ignore the crap reviews, get it if you like Dynasty Warriors. Simple as that.
