    Rayman 3DS

Played through an hour or so of this.

Seems a decent platformer (never played the original versions) but it's not a brilliant port. There are loads of little issues.

The sound is appauling, there's obviously a low limit to the number of sounds that can be played at once, random sound effects can cause ambient sounds to abruptly stop, often sounds don't play at all . The music starts and stops at random intervals (no fading in or out).

The frame rate is poor despite the graphics being so-so. Even stuff like having a text box on screen causes the frame rate to noticably drop. It adds a big chunk to the eye strain. I also noticed heavy double imaging at points that didn't dissapear no matter how I moved the 3DS around or fiddled with the 3D level.

The game saves before every loading screen which seems clunky (why not put them both on the same screen?) but it also makes the saving a bit unpredictable. Sometimes you go 3 minutes between saves, sometimes you can go 20 minutes without a save.

Despite the negatives it's a fun, old school 3D platformer at its core and it's a good demonstration of how 3D aids platforming. It's just annoying that it's a bit of a poor port.

yeah very disappointed with this. We're coming down really hard now on rushed ports, regardless of how good the game is. Ocarina of Time is a good indication of what we want from updates. This is really disappointing.

It's just frustrating how amatuerish it is. I've not played a game where sounds cut out like this since the 32bit era. The sound hw should mean you'd really be doing something wrong to have that happen

New textures? That's pretty much all that's been announced so far.

The graphics in Ocarina of Time have been massivley improved, its not just new textures, all the enviroments have been redone, I dont know if the content of the game is any different but as far as graphics go its comparable to the remake of Resident Evil, its that big of an improvment.

I picked this up recently and I'm really enjoying it, though it's not as good as the original I'd say, it does a decent job of making Rayman 3D and recapturing the art style of the original. Were there no more proper Rayman games besides, this, the original (and gold) prior to the upcoming Rayman Origins? Seems a bit strange.

The only thing I'm not so keen on are that it's not truer to the original, in terms of the enemies and the things you collect, plus the bonus stages that seem to require no skill and are hard to reach. Plus I fear I may hav accidentally wiped out whatever you get out of them by pressing the wrong button. Which would be annoying, it says look what you've won, but you can't see anything and it says press B to restart or Start to go to the map screen, but pressing A seems to restart and possibly lose what you won.

There was a Rayman 3 too but it wasn't as good as 2 unfortunately.
