    Splinter Cell 3D (3DS)

Picked this up earlier despite a negative Ngamer review as feedback in other forums was positive.
Graphics are actually quite nice. The YouTube videos I had seen were useless as it is a dark game and has to be seen in 3D to appreciate. Some nice shadow and lighting effects and Sam himself looks the part with lots of detail on his gear and weapons.
Control is where this game goes downhill a bit. The joystick moves Sam and the 4 face buttons control the camera. The touch screen is used to equip and switch weapons and perform contex actions like use medikit or open doors. It all works well until you get into any heavy action at which point it's spray and pray time as the face buttons are not accurate enough for aiming you weapon fast.
As most of the game is stealth it's not a game breaker though and I had some good fun with this. It's nice to play something slow and detailed with realistic graphics after the other launch games I got.
Overall a 7 out of 10 from me. Drop that down to a 6 or 5 if you are not a Splinter Cell fan though

Didn't know this had a thread or that ANYONE else even played it but you're right, the controls work well until you need them, then I go into panic hands mode. I'm disappointed you can't grab anyone coming while pressed against walls, I thought that was the point of that feature, I'm sure you could do that in Double Agent.

I'm not getting on with it that well though and I don't know why, it looks good, I like stealth, I haven't played all the games in the series but have liked what I have. It was definitely not the right game to show someone in the pub, heh. "tell me how to jump again", it took a while to realise you have to put your gun away before you can do anything else. I've put it on ebay since paypal now acts as my never ended gameswap fund and I'll try and get a bit further with it before it sells. Best to give up and sell while it's relatively new. I just fancy something a bit different.

I am still enjoying it actually. I got a bit hung up on the bank stage but progressing well now. As the only real narrative based action game in the launch line up I think I am putting up with some of the flaws I normally would get sick off. The graphics on the NY penthouse level are nice.
I think some reviews have been a bit harsh though. I don't think this is a 4 like EG gave it. Once it dips below ?20 I am sure some others on here will pick it up and back me up on my opinion. Or maybe I am viewing it through Rose tinted 3D glasses!

I've just got to the bank stage, I've been putting time into it as well I just can't improve on my crapness at it and I find myself with not much else to do on the machine instead if I want to take a break so I just turn it off.

I bought this with my 3DS and have to say it's a disappointment. Coming from Splinter Cell Conviction, the look is as close as can be expected on a handheld to the most recent 360 game. This is perhaps why it feels limited -- the head shots and stealth kills have been taken out. I also really liked the way Conviction told you if you were visible by shifting between black and white in the shadows to colour in the light. That's been replaced by a light meter, like the older Splinter Cells, which just doesn't feel as good. The 3D works well technically, but doesn't make up for this.

I had less trouble with the controls and touch screen than the other guys here, it's definitely playable though and I agree that 4 seems a little harsh. Somewhere between 5 and 6?
