Agree with everyone else that this is a truly brilliant game deserving at least an 8.

We've finished Story and been playing 4 player tag team battles in our living room every day since it came out pretty much, it's amazing and Sektor is a badman. One of the best (if not the best) four player (offline) modes of any game on the 360 too, easily.

The Kombat Pass is now free for everybody until the store goes live, so some online Kombat can be played.

      p.s so bring it Dog

to quote the South Park dance-offs episode: IT'S ON!!!!

...and if I do get a pasting, it's only because I've got quite a bad leg atm. Honest.

Why is the xbox version of this online so terrible? So laggy, don't think I've had one game without lag! Believe me I've tried! Havent played one ranked match yet as it refuses to find me anyone. I love this game and really want to get more worth out of it, but it's like it just doesn't want me too!

Wow, this really is great isn't it? I'm really bad at fighters, and usually that means I get really angry at being repeatedly thrashed by the bots, but for some reason that's not the case here. I've been playing through the story (which is by far the best story mode I've ever seen in a fighter) and despite loosing a quite a few times in different fights, I never felt like victory was beyond my reach. It's also a great way to give you a feel for all the characters. I also like that a lot of characters use the same or similar commands for their moves, so it's just a matter of working out who does what, not remembering hundreds of different button/direction combos.

I did have a look at the achievements though, and I doubt I'll be getting the full 1000gs on this. 10 wins online in a row?? No chance, unless I fluke 10 random n00bs in a row.

Anyhow, I'm glad I spent the money on this, I didn't expect I'd enjoy it quite this much!

Really enjoying the online bouts now, even though I'm still rubbish and losing twice for every win. Hilarious how the rooms set up for beginners are populated by people with around 400 kills to 10 losses trying to get easy kills. And when you decline their fight challenges they post on the room message board things like: 't3h n00bs r **** lol', etc. Are all online fighters populated with such morons?

Gah, my glowing praise was espoused too soon. Why why why do all fighting games have to have cheap bosses... I'm still playing through story (and loving it) and usually I don't mind replaying a fight a few times, because it always feels like I can get better or improve and that victory is within my grasp. Then I get up to Shao Khan... completely unfun fight, and even doing an xray move on him takes off only a small chunk of health. I'm sure I'll beat him eventually, but it really stands out in an otherwise amazing game. It doesn't help that I have to use Liu Kang again either, I would have rather have stuck with Kung Lao.

Anyway, has anyone else seen the "My Kung Fu Is Stronger" achievement? To get it you need to master each character. To master a character you must get:

                  100 victories
                  100 "-alities"
                  150 X-Rays landed
                  10,000 pints of blood spilled
24 hours (1 day) playing time (per character!)

I don't hunt achievements much, but do people really do things like this??

^ That is an arse of a trophy. Bet some OCD maniacs will get it though.

Plowed through the story mode in the weekend, found it tough in parts where I played characters I didn't know how to use. Spent all my Koins in the crypt and ventured online to play a few games. I havn't played online for a while, but it didn't half get my blood pumping... Something I did realise about peeps online is how cheap the peeps I encountered are in my bracker range... (I was judging opponants on how many games they have played...) the less experienced ones, all cling to the same old moves, I especially find the teleporting moves peeps use to be highly vexxing! R3 isn't the easiest of buttons to use as a block.

Still, I have fallen back in wubz with the MK universe... Story mode was ace... currently working my way though the challenge tower...

                      X-Ray mode 4tehwin!

@112: Smoke and Noob Saibot are the spamming characters of choice for new players, you'll probably have found out to your cost. Infuriating, especially Smoke, as his teleport/double attack thing is easy to pull off and almost too fast to block.

Those are two of the characters i had probs facing against, especially how you can chain combos together to add maximum damage, should the teleport move connect...

Golgo, do you know why, during a match with the CPU, some of my hits that connect, literally have no effect on the character? And they just pummel me as a result? Is it a parry, or is the CPU cheating to make the character appear harder/tougher...? I've lost count of the way I haven't even finished imputting a command for a projectile move to have the CPU, spam me back with their own projectile moves...

Borrowed the office copy of this (so no online play, someones already used the online pass code, hehe), and while I've always been more of a Street Fighter man, the story mode in this is excellent isn't it?

If I see it around 20 quid I might grab it new for a bit of online play.

Not sure about that, 112. Can't say I've noticed it tbh, except 1) when they're blocking legally, and 2) when you get to fight Shao Khan, who appears to have something going on where he will flash white rather than taking any damage, even while he's not blocking. (Cheap as chips)

OR, it could be the combo break move which you (and CPU) can do when there's 3 blocks on the power-up gauge? After opponent starts combo, push d-pad towards them with block (R2), which messes up their combo and exposes them for a slapping. Maybe they're doing that to you?

yep Golgo that cheap as chips part with Shao Khan is definately used by the CPU, especially so when you are fighting a four armed enemy. Maybes it's the games way of enphasising the strength and power of the larger characters... Totally ridiculous...
