after the 3rd level the difficulty just goes mental ...the 5th boss blimey i really could not keep up with the amount of things happening on screen

You just need to use the magic barrier to slow stray bullets down. The fifth boss is relatively easy with a decently long barrier (that's why I focus on buying meter enhacers more than cards) and a wide area card like Seven Stars. The Role card works against everything but it's not always available and costs a lot to begin with.

The trial version of this is so-not representative of the full game. Anyway, downloaded and played this tonight. SO many modes, and characters etc. As EnglishBob said, I thought the normal "easy" mode would be okay after the trial, but then becomes absolutely screen filling killer, multiple multiple credits usage after a few levels. I normally try to just stick to 1 credit but on this it seemed pointless. Kudos to Kaosu if you could 1CC this on the second run. Score attack mode seems nuts as well.
As I said in another thread, there are far too many shooters at the moment, even just on the 360, so don't know if I'll come back to this...
