    Frozen Synapse

So come on, who else is now a slave to the Shape?

This game is the absolute monkey's nuts. It's like the planning stage in Rainbox Six and Hidden & Dangerous made into a game and dressed up like Deus Ex, Perfect Dark and Ghost in the Shell. It's sooooo good! arrgh. I had a near game orgasm last night - the way you can time everything, and plan each route and angle and control exactly what happens. It's tactical autism sex! You can spend 10s of minutes of going through every eventuality in a given turn and at the press of a button see it all come to life in a glorious, brutal few seconds. Very few games get through my jaded gamer's armour these days - this smashed right through

Have been interested in this since it popped up on Steam and shedloads of people have started talking about it now, getting a large buzz and good reviews is always a good thing.
    Needs a trailer.

It's odd seeing so much action in one go. Most of your playing time is spent in the amazing - it is actually amazing - planning stage. There hasn't been as significant a leap as this in turn based gaming since we were playing Lazer Squad and X-Com back in the day. You can edge round corner, take someone out, duck to move past a low wall to avoid a sniper, wait 0.8 seconds and pop up to cover a doorway. The second guessing is excellent - taking control of the enemy team to see what would happen if they do this and I do that - then sitting back to watch the possible results. And then you click 'Prime' to see what really happens and it is genuinely exciting. You don't know what's going to happen! - your carefully laid out plans could result in calculated synchronised killing beyond that which any SWAT team to hope to match, or a swift defeat as your drones crumple wetly to the floor. 'If only i'd wated a second before popping out of cover ...' And the music I wish i'd spent extra for the soundtrack edtion now.

Bought this on steam but it wont load at all, when I click to launch it just does nothing and then about 10 seconds later the fan in my computer goes beserk for about a minute before calming down again.

Anyone know why it wont load?

PC games: the future of simplicity and ease of use.

Anyhow, I enjoyed that first level, didn't think much of it when I did the tutorial, but once te more complex campaign level randomly generated it was much better.

I nabbed this when it was in the Steam sale this week.
One word: Amazing. I can't put the bloody thing down.

I think this could even be a new classic of 'streamlined strategy' - up there with stuff like Worms and Advance Wars. It really is that great!

Anyone who has enjoyed a strategy game before shouldn't hesitate to try it.

It is pretty great, though I'm still getting used to all the intricacies of the game.

Also, it's got a cool youtube upload feature. Here's my attempt at the first level of the campaign:

I like the idea of this but the videos look too fiddly for me, I run out of patience fast. Would love to see it picked up on handheld and them streamline it to its core essence and give me a dumbed down version.

Nice job keeping them all alive. After several attempts at trying to get this feature working I finally got mine up:

Its a very simple game, its all played on a mouse and can be played by mainly just clicking on units and telling them where to move. Theres a drop down menu which is helpful, but it most cases its actualy more or less optional, and its also pretty simple to use itself anyway.

You couldnt really dumb the game down to be honest, the beauty of it is how simple it actualy is to play.
