ive got the pal gamecube version and its easy to switch from the d-pad and the analog just like it is with the ps2

is there really moves missing from this version? Ive never looked to see if you can change the controls. Well gutted if so! Should have got the ps2 version. Ahh so u can change the moves you do though in the setup didnt know that. Do the move advanced moves give you more points then?

Im on peak 3 and cant beat elise down the hill on the trick mode she always gets about 280000 and i can only get around 240000. If i change my moves should that help out? Im almost at full stats you see to!

What is your best combo so far?? I have done a 108 combo so far. I was so afraid of falling over once I got to the bottom of the hill.

A mixture of small jumps and spins as well as board pressing. Board pressing is very easy to do once you get used to it and its possible to stay balanced on the board for long periods of time.

Board pressing as in moving the stick either forwards or backwards and holding the position?

Yeah holding the right stick forwards or backwards. Remember to slowly edge the right stick to the right or left and every now and then do a full circle. The points for a board press rise slowly at first 20, 40, 60, 100, 120 ...... but add a couple of rotations whilst staying on the same foot and it will easily go up into the thousands.

Hey just wanted to add, how cool is it to race down the mountain. I haven't done many of the challenges, in fact that is the area where I'm lacking.

I love the half pipes, I'm not sure how to get to the higher ones on the third peak. EA big pwns me...! I keep thinking I'm going to play something else and then I end up putting on this wicked awesome game!

It was my worst nightmare as I was doing my 108 combo! I ran out of hill to continue my combo. I was spinning madly to get as many as I could

Also if you do a combo down the whole mountain using every big jump and small jump you will get a huge score. I was on about 300,000 extra points after about 2/3 of a course.

Can you imagine doing a combo down the whole of the 30 min race Who dares live the dream?

I have no idea yet either. I will try and figure it out in single player events once my character is finished. I am too busy playing new levels to go back to older ones

but how do you move your right hand back in time to build up a jump and then move back to the right analog stick?

You have two seconds between each move in which to continue the combo. But you don't have to complete the trick in that time, just start it. Two seconds is enough time to release board press and add a quick jump with a simple spin or grab in it. It takes a bit of practice, but is relatively straight forward, problem is that it can be as easy to mess up as it can to trick.

If you play the game online you'll see players doing it to increase their combo, on R & B for instance, many players get to the bottom with anything between 30 seconds to 1 minute remaining. If you've combo'ed the entire course its a neat opportunity to build that combo up. On the other hand, muck up and you'll be gutted

I don't know all the details for certain matey as my GC copy still hasn't arrived from Goblin yet (and it'll be going straight back when it does). EA said the GC version only uses the shoulder buttons for grabs to keep the controls "intuitive". Thats just three grab buttons, so you'll lose any grabs related to the fourth missing button.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong on this .......

                            PS2, 4 buttons, A B
                            C D

Grabs: A, B, C, D, AB, AC, AD, BC, BD, CD, ACB, ACD, BDA, BDC, ABCD x2 (each grab can be tweaked) = 30 grabs.

                            GC, 3 buttons, A B
                            C

                            Grabs: A, B, C, AB, AC, BC, ABC x2 = 14 grabs

Ubers I'm not sure about. They may of used all available button combinations in which case you're okay. If not, on the PS2 version you can buy extra ubers, so if you're lucky, they may have put all ubers associated with the lost button as purchases for the other buttons. Or ...... you may lose them all together.

                            PS2 ubers: L1, L2, R1, R2, L1 and L2, R1 and R2. 6 ubers.

Hopefully GC ubers: A, B, C, AB, AC and BC. 6 ubers.

I was gutted enough by the loss of tricks to buy a PS2 version, but whether its a real loss or not is up to you. Personally I'd go PS2 if possible, the controller suits the game perfectly.

Yeah I found it took a bit of getting used too. I have been trying to boost while holding the right analogue stick. Really gives you extra speed for big jumps when you let go of the right stick to get ready for the jump. You just have to get the timing right from letting go of the right stick to holding X for the jump. Then make sure you hold the right stick back once you land. Once you have it mastered, points points points!!
