If you want to beat Gill easily, use Ibuki's neck twist all the time. There are other ways as well but this is likely the easiest.

I don't like the presentation of this. The title screen keeps being there forever, with the 'knock you out' kind of ****ty music going on. Then there is the ugly swirl and the laggy menus. Its one ugly mofo of a game in terms of menu layout. New character icons make no sense as well, they feel out of place. And then there is the grey background on these screens.. ugh.

What I don't understand is that the netplay is inferior to other Capcom games while they touted this would own all. Player matches against friends are lag free from what I experienced, but ranked is **** and other player rooms will randomly kick people out. There is no hidden select as well, its the same counter picking **** as in vanilla SFIV. Whats the deal here?

Once playing Arcade mode or against a friend its fantastic and the challenges are fun (although there are no demonstrations at all). But outside of this... the game is actually a terrible mess i'm afraid.

Character select is baffling, as is the menu lag(in fact, the menu on the whole just makes no sense). I'm sure they'll release an old-style menu DLC in due course.

Had no problems with netplay(other than that my opponent's disconnect rating was a bazillion percent) but I did player matches as I couldn't find any ranked ones.

Cheers for the Gill tip but I haven't used Ibuki yet! I'll keep at it, though. Problem I have with Gill(and Seth) is that I just don't care about him like I did with Bison. At least with Bison, although he was cheap as chips, I felt like I really had to beat him, and not just to finish the game.

I've been playing on both XBL and PSN. I find that on PSN ranked is the only thing worth bothering with. With "player" match the system only displays around 8 rooms with no option to look for more. Most if not all of them have terrible ping ratings. If I start my own room nobody ever joins, probably because it's never displayed to ther players. I know PSN is free and all but the player matches seem pointless.

I love to fight Gill, and I like the music as well. He's actually not all that cheap. He falls for a lot of traps and setups. Sometimes he wins, but sometimes I also perfected him. I went to town on him with Ken just a moment ago, he falls a lot for crouch mk's into fireballs, low sweeps and crossups.

With Chun, you can spam her SBK's and sweeps afterward and chip him until death. If he revives I sometimes HP him out of it when he's at 20% or so. But sometimes, when I have a big lead, I turtle until he does a super (which means his bar is empty) rush in and punish him for it.

But Capcom has a lot to explain after their promises about the treatment of SF3.

This review basically sums up the wrongdoings:

The patch for the 360 version of this and I've got to say, I'm struggling to see any major differences. Ranked matches still take a long time to find, though I have had a better strike rate when looking for games I suppose. Haven't seen any ridiculous disconnection rates, but I seem to be getting paired with people with ****tier ping now. Ping is still only defined by colour and is still normally only revealed after you've accepted to play, at which point you can't decline the match.

Don't know if it was just coincidence or if I imagined it, but frame skipping and other glitchy weirdness seemed to be a bit more common too. And they've effectively just left the ranked match system as it was, i.e. you end up with whoever it pairs you with, you can't choose from a list of available hosts and pick based on ping, say, and you can't choose to host. God only knows why they chose to ditch the normal way of doing it here.

There's no way GamesTM played the online part of this game for any decent length of time to come up with a 9. It's utterly substandard and does a total disservice to terrific game that really deserves better.

Yeah, it's terrible. I've deleted it for now. (4gb here)

Where did that big budget go?

Ranked is pointless anyway since you can't lose points.

I play player matches only and the game quality is mostly fine. You can pick and choose to make sure you only play green ping opponents.

Overall the online isn't perfect but it's a hell of alot better than alot of people suggest and still the best way to play this game online.

Didn't think people were still playing this.

Its the only way I'm afraid. Xbox game won't work online anymore and emulation GGPO support has been killed off.

Same here, which really pains me. I waited ages for this game, finally the perfect port of my favourite fighter, with GGPO... The showfloor gameplay and interviews made it seem like this game offered a ridiculous amount of unlockables (what exactly, no more than character artwork?) and perfect online play. Everything seemed to be perfect at that point.

But the result is quite a ****ty package. Another example of a game that shouldn't have been released yet. When announced last year, Ono said it would take quite a long time to see release but all of a sudden it was being announced for this summer.

It's not great, but much better than GGPO.

I can commonly get a game on PS3 just fine now. Had a few nice games today, playing rubbish people. Ha ha.

My 360 fight pads keep breaking so I tried the PS3 3S online today and then remembered why I never play it. The PSN online play really is garbage by comparison. The player lobby only has a small amount of rooms and if you create one, nobody ever shows up. That leaves only ranked which is exclusively red and orange connections. For all the people complaining about this, are you PSN or XBL?

This is the problem, they aren't (at least in our region). No one is going to play this because it's not a staple part of the scene and very few arcades cater it. No matter how superior the game is, people aren't going to play it unless it's current.

Apart from my UK friends I don't see anyone on my friends list with this game.

I'm using XBL by the way.
