Well finally got to play the full game of this and I am hugely impressed, certainly vying for the best sim racer on the current generation.
The handling is just sublime! I have a selection of awesome japanese cars from the MR2, Celica, Supra, Impreza, RX7 and a DC5 and all feel so different to drive.
My RX7 is A class and kitted with a roll cage and you can just chuck it around as it feels so light and farty due to the rotary.
My DC5 is nippy with good FWD handling and that lovely V-tec changeover point. The Impreza also feels like but tanks along with a little understeer but masses of stability. The MR2 is fast of the mark and easy to snap oversteer.

My god the handling is amazing! The helmet cam is also superb and feels like Shift now. It makes the racing feel so much more exciting and so far I have had some corkers. Racing through traffic on a hill run was a highlight.

So far, level 11 and so good.

Think I have said enough in the thread alread, but I think you've picked the best time to start playing this. The first 7 months of not being able to play online because of issues was a bug that went on too long, but is now largely fixed.

However anything else I've ever said on it here is still true. One of the most fractured and infuriating releases in the past 12 months for me, maybe as much as Gran Turismo 5. A little bit of extra care and attention would of made it right, however they are too busy selling you chunks of the game to care. This title has about the most DLC I have ever seen for a game so far, doesn't look good for the future.

I have to agree, seeing cars in the shop that I cannot buy with in game credits annoyed the hell out of me, especially the Celica GT4 RC.

Also the first year was an utter chore, the bowling in particular as was the opening race in the Ferrari with all of the assists.

I think Forza 4 is the most polished Racing Simulator out there but I still have a love for what Polyphony were aiming for with Gran Turismo 5. In some ways they wanted to replicate all disciplines of Motorsport under one roof.

However the insane load times, constant updates, terrible single player progression, visual quality differences between cars and unpolished edges harmed the obvious attention to detail and commendable diversity of cars and tracks.

Turn 10 really nailed the end user experience with a polished front end, high visual quality bar all round, integrated multiplayer and came up with an elegant way for the player to install all that content with little of the fuss GT5 made us jump through. But both games suffer with using the same tier of player progression which made me feel bored, I stuck it out to about 60% completion in GT5 as there was nothing else like it, but I only got to year 2 in Forza 4. There’s just little to do and too few quality tracks to race around.

Turn 10 need to increase the track count and include open wheel cars like Formula 1, Polyphony need to devise a more elegant solution to content addition and focus more on quality not quantity.

Still, both games are excellent and Forza 4 really pushes the Xbox 360 to its limit.

It made me think it's been done on purpose to encourage you to purchase them with real money instead. The pay with credits or buy some tokens thing really bugged me actually.

I haven't bought any of the car packs this time around because the credit values and slow going to earn them. Bought every one of them for Forza 3.

And the Porsche pack? I'd have preferred some additional tracks instead.

The racing still seems some way off what I want. I've noticed in year 1 that I often pull away from the pack with just one or two cars following, even on a 3 lap race.

                  Does this change at all?

Just in case you're still playing this, haven't bought the car packs yet and fancied grabbing the first six of them, the Season Pass is reduced to 1200 MSP (50% off), for today only.

Yes and the Porsche pack is 800 and has been all week. I picked it up a couple of days ago, mainly because I miss having the Porsche licence but equally because I'm a stat whore and want the extra 250 gamerscore!!

I'm up to year 9 in this now. Just reading the last few comments it's a shame people didn't stick it out for too long in single player. The last few years of world tour mode are a blast. Classes A-R3 and varied track rotations. Going back to this game has made me appreciate it even more. Turn 10 really delivered in my opinion, though I've passed up all paid DLC cars until now and truly wished they'd added more tracks.

Yeah, I'd have liked to have seen some additional tracks, rather than just concentrating on car packs. Shame really.

I'm slowly chipping away at it. On season 5 or 6 I think.

I?ve been getting back into this after the latest Car Pack and I?ve fallen in love with the Mercedes Benz 300 SLR. It?s a beautiful looking car inside & out, with the best drifting of any car this side of the Maserati 250F in Project Gotham Racing 4. If you?ve got a few hundred points then give it a try!

Also I fell into a trap of taking the Aston Martin DBR9 out around Suzuka and spent the next hour or so beating my time and taking some pictures with other cars. This remains one of the best looking racers on the market.

I'll continue with my thread revivals......

This came bundled free with my new 360 and I hadn't bothered to stick it on until yesterday. All I can say is wow, I wish i'd put it on straight away! Absolutely stunning, and the racing i've managed to put in so far has been superb, the handling seems incredibly accurate. Can't wait to get home from work today and play it some more and get myself up and in to some more serious machinery.
