Clocked the game now, enjoyed what i've played but while i enjoy the pokemoning, it takes away being able to cover all the bases when you have 3 people with all 6 jobs, and SYN is useless in this game beyond pro/shell for bosses and to many of them are resistant to SAB making it only only useful against purple man when he buffs up but over than that your waste previous turns not attacking for the stagger.

Maybe going after game paradox endings make use of this but it felt less tactical than FFxiii. As for the final boss...

ggrrr what a bastard to many surprise moves when you fight him the first couple of times, and just when i thought i got him... bloody Dark sun or whatever it calls it out of nowhere.. managed to sort it inthe end by have SEN,SEN,MED on stand by for countdowns and dark sun, then SYN,SYN,COM to get shell/pro up quick while keeping stagger going.

Story was alittle pants, and to much near the was explained by "lightning did this" of screen.. still it was enough to explain gameplay away with all the time and parrallel world jumping that reminded me of Chrno Trigger, and just like CT i had classic "wtf do i do know" moments when i had missed gate portals or fragments to other places.

I'm actually looking forward to ffxiii-3.

Finished this on PS3 now, 100% complete, every fragment, all paradox endings and the secret final ending, and all trophies obtained.

Loved it. 65 hours of total fun for me. Could have done with a better story, but the gameplay hit the sweet spot for me. Bosses were challenging, but still acheiveable. Well, the secret final bosses anyway. By the time I got round to finishing it I had maxed out every rle for everyone with their best weapons... 5 starred the final bosses in ender 30 second each!

Game was fantastic, even the lack of proper ending didn't annoy me. Bring on the story DLC!

chichu, with the right monster infusions at lvl70 can practically solo every enemy in the game.

i'm 9 fragments away from 160 so i can get the real ending.

I like the greater flexibility in this over XIII in how you develop the main characters. I wanted to keep then distinct so I have Sarah as Rav/Sab, Noel as Com/Sen. Neither has unlocked the Med role yet (just post flan). This means most things die quickly but I get into trouble more often than I might, which keeps it interesting.

New Sazh DLC is out. You get a cutscene, gamble for 30 fortune medals, get another cutscene and it's all over. Get Sazh as a SYN 'Monster' out of it.

It also brings two card games to play in Serendipity, does it not?

Sounds wank. I'll be avoiding. Only Dlc I'll buy for it is story based.

Yeah, Poker and a unique game. The Poker is just Poker, if you know it but the games can last ages. Unlike the clock game, you have to knock every player out to finish a game. You get the Fortune Medals for doing things like finishing games, winning with big hands etc. Quitting out of a game because it takes too long goes directly against what you are trying to achieve in the DLC. I won't spoil it but Sazh's goal in this place is to win at these games.

AI on both of these games are infuriating at times. When you're trying to up the reward multiplyer on the clock game, the AI frequently cashes out early preventing you or any of the other AI from winning big. The games drag on for ages at times as the money 1 player wins has to be split between the 3 other players evenly. Often you'll be sitting on 20,000+ coins and the AI will cash out early and you'll lose like 100-200 coins, it'll take forever to bankrupt you at that rate. Also instead of passing the number 13 at the top of the clock and upping the reward multiplyer, the AI often ignores it and make silly decisions to land on numbers with coins on, only to not 'clock out' anyway!

edit: You can put an Afro on Sazh's Afro!

I've had so much else on that I've stepped away from this for a while, but I'm now back on it. Any tips for the casino achievement & slots fragment? Don't suppose the DLC makes any difference to either of these? At 159 fragments now and really just want to close everything up so I can get my 1000/1000 and move on...

I'm suprised no one has posted this

I lol'd hard when i first heard this. Sounds like Square hired Dethklok to do it. Hilarious!

Really enjoying this, huge step up from XIII. I'm a sucker for anything to do with time travel no matter how wrong or silly it is. The general gameplay is alot of fun and alot more open than its predacessor. As one dimensional as the characters are Noel is a refreshing change.
