Yeah that's another launcher, I think that version has armour. So you can absorb 1 hit during it and it will still get off.

This part of Max's youtube series is the one I found most useful when learning the basic system.

Don't know what I feel about this game. As an SF player who hasn't played Tekken since #2, all the Tekken characters feel completely alien to me they each have a TON of moves and target combos that are all unique to that character - and the ones I like seem completely useless for a newbie facing the same old bunch of Ryu/Ken team players mashing DPs and tick throwing.

Tried playing with my SF mains, but that feels boring - I could just be playing a janky version of SSF4. Right now there's still a load of other amateurs, but in a few weeks time I'm going to get left behind unless I go back to the same old characters from SF4. Seems there aren't enough new characters on the SF side to get excited about. Probably trade it in like MvC3 which is a shame because with this game out - SF4 online is going to be a ghost town.

I'll have to give it the weekend and see if I can get into it, but right now it's overwhelming playing online.

          Pressing HP twice?

That's like me returning home tonight and slicing my girlfriend's neck with a kitchen knife (which is possible) for no reason at all, then coming on here to ask what I did wrong.

Also, you can only cancel dial-a-combo/magic chains (LP xx MP xx HP, etc etc) with an EX move, you can't cancel into a standard dragon punch. The standard launchers (HP+HK) have lower body invincibility, so they are immune to sweeps.

Nice reply, this place is great. If you have read the subsequent replies you would know where I was coming from.

I agree, this place is great, I read all subsequent replies after you had answered your own question and read a load of misinformation for the most part which confused me let alone someone new to the game, and could have had you spend hours in the training mode over nothing.

The DLC drama continues with this. Not only are all characters, costumes, colour packs, prologues/endings, and gems on the disc - but also all of the trial modes for each of the 'DLC' cast - hinting that they are well in fact already balanced enough to be cast out there. I bet they are probably more balanced than Heihachi/Kazuya, especially the latter who I'm abusing an infinite with online.

In my defence I did not know there where "two" launcher moves. From memory in the Tutorial it was just HP+HK together. Its very easy to press a single button twice in a quick move such as LP,MP,HP.

Anyway as the initial question was answered already, I don't understand why you chipped it. Only to insinuate that I was a ****ing idiot or something.

Im a bit of a newbie to fighting games. I play them but serious or anything. How do I do the combos on my stick where its like a low kick to a fireball, how precise and fast do I need to be to do this, it seems basic but I cant pull it off. Are there any sites which can show me the timings and motions of these sort of things etc. Id like to really get into this game and got a stick for it but just cant get the knack of it.

What you're after is called a Cancel. You kick out with say, crouching medium kick. Then before the kick has finished it's animation, you input the command for the fireball to cancel out of the kick and throw a fireball. If you don't cancel the crouching medium kick, you have to wait for your character to pull their leg back in and by that time, a fireball could be blocked as you have let up on your oponant.

The timing involved for most cancels isn't that bad I think. So long as you input the fireball within half a second or so from when you pressed the kick button.

Will be hard to find any basic tutorial vids for SFxTekken as I think most people are treating it like an extension of SF4 where the basics are the same.

I've been working my way through the SF side of the characters after finally locating my SFIV Madcatz controller. Over the next night or two I'm going to be working through the Tekken roster. I absolutely love the music remix fro Megaman even if he does control a bit rubbish. Out of the SF roster I'm finding myself once again leaning towards Cammy with her lower damage but high speed and decent linking potential. By the time I'll have worked through the Tekken side I think I'll be done with this until possibly when the Vita version hits.

I've given up with this already. The level of play around here is nuts. Because of the low skill entry requirement there are people absolutely tearing everything to bits and have mastered it already. It's totally pointless investing any time into this as long as I have a job to attend to, and I'm doing infinites and ****, it's not like I don't understand the system. Some people on my friends list are 7500+ BP rated already, I got up to 1300 then got hammered back down to some crap number by a load of 2500+ rated players, usually double teamers.

I wouldn't bother taking it that seriously. Most people are just tier-whoring for fun, me included. You literally have no chance with 85% of the cast. They are pointless even being there.

Dude, everyone knew that's what this game would be about. Dial a combo easy to get into shenanigans.
SSF4AE is the better game but only if you're good enough. For people like us who aren't students and have full time jobs with responsibilities finding the time to get deep into another game is really tough.

Yeah, I suppose I always knew this would never be a serious release - but it could have been great. I tried getting back into SF just before this hit, although the arcade is totally swamped with Seth players and there isn't much I can do against that randomness. ><

Meh, Diablo 3 soon. Pretty much everyone in the fighting game community here is quitting for that game as well.

Can't believe your arcades are getting Seth over load. Here I've hardly seen him. A right good mix here. I find though that if you go to a small arcade or town you end up fighting the same bad or good players over and over. Which is bad.

My closest arcade has a Cody player who is god like, and I just walk out when he shows up.

In the centre of Tokyo arcades have a lot of plays so the mix and balance is good. Nobody is dominating to extent. And everyone gets a fair try.
