Ys: The Oath in Felghana - PC - Steam.

So basically PSP RPG publisher xSEED have recently signed up with Steam, meaning (hopefully) a **** tonne of great games are on the way.

The first title they have published on the platform is Ys: The Oath in Felghana. I had to buy it the minute it went up, just to show my support, despite never having played a Ys game (always meant to though). The more succesful this is, the more lucrative it becomes for xSEED = more games... or something, right?

It's a tenner. If you have any desire to support xSEED, buy it. If you are totally stingy or broke, wait for a Steam sale and buy it for ?3.

But the main point is - buy it. It's awesome. Game maths = Torchlight + Bastion x Japan.

You are the hero Adol, and you get quests in town that send you to nearby dungeons. You fight through, level up, loot stuff (not too often, but always something useful) and have a massive, tough as hell, you will die the first time boss fight.

Ok so not so original, but the combat is what shines here. Incredibly fast, fluid and innitiative. Totally addictive.

Also, it's a fantastic PC port with loads of graphical options, and it's very optimised. If your PC could play Half Life 2 to any reasonable degree, it'll play this easilly.

Will definately be buying this at some point today.

Quick question, does the game feature a Japanese text option?

Nope, it's the Japanese PC version (not a PC port like Jusatsushi said) translated to English using a fan translation as base. I prefer it over the PSP version if you play it with a pad. Ys Origin is their next Steam release!

Is Ys Origin the first game or unrelated?

Just bought Oath in Felghana thanks to PSN's recent price drop, but am interested in any of the games it won't sell.

Thanks. As a side note, does the PSP version have a Japanese text option? It might seem like an odd request, but it makes it easier for me to pass gaming off as studying

I'll most likely buy the PC version regardless to support these releases.

Does anyone know how to force 4:3 resolution on this when it's fullscreen? I'm trying to play it at 1024x768 on my laptop but every time I go fullscreen the image stretches out to 16:9.

This sounds proper nice. Any chance it'll turn up on XBLA or PSN? Sort of thing I'd buy.

Totally different game to the remake of the first two Y's games, like you I went and pickup up all three Y's games on PSN for the PSP following the recent price drop in Europe, well worth the purchase.

Looks like this has just been patched for proper full screen 4:3 support for people using widescreen monitors or laptops. Runs nicely at 1024x768 with black bars on my laptop screen now.

Just finished this, bloody loved it. Just hope they release some of the other titles, wouldn't mind playing through YSVI again. Took me 9hrs on normal.

Some people can complete it in 2hrs. Its not a traditional rpg, action focused and timing based, its all about speed. 9 hrs is generous for a game of this type. Ys VI clocked in about the same.

Took me 14 hours with every weapon and armour found and every dungeon explored. Lovely, lovely game. Reminded me a lot of Symphony of the Night strangely enough, especially later on.
