    Sine Mora

Horizontal shooter, with beautiful graphics, a weird story, people swearing and some possible translation funnies ("Time Mass Stablized"?? I'm guessing "Time Has Stabilzed")

I bought the game - it's very impressive.
On the story mode (easy) you can mince through most of it ok with a few continues.
The arcade mode will kick your arse though.

Hook is that destorying things gives you time. Getting hit removes time from your counter. If it gets to zero, it's game over. So if in a tunnel, hitting a wall is game over very quickly.

You can slow time or rewind time (up to you in arcade mode). The slow mode is very helpful at times, but it runs out.

There is a rank system with your rank displayed (me likes it displayed) for points.

Weapon is pretty weedy to start with and can be powered up 9 times.

Overall I reckon anyone into shmups will get a lot out of this. Lots to learn and goes on longer than most shmups.

It reminds me of Zero Gunner 2 in visuals - bright, vibrant, lots going on, steampunkish. Nice.

    No brainer purchase for me.

I've almost completely skipped the Story and gone straight into Arcade mode on Hard difficulty. It definitely has an adjustment period, but wow... This is some of the most fun I've had score attacking a game that isn't Cave.

There are some really obvious Yagawa influences with the rank system and the way it plays out. I know the developer of this was quite active on the Shmups forums getting some player feedback on a few things.

Score goes up when you kill stuff with your normal shot, but using your capsule and your sub weapon kill the multiplier.

One thing I will say, the trial is underwhelming. I like the story mode sections in it, but the arcade mode in the trial forces you to play on Insane, and that's.... well, insane.

insta purchase for me as well still getting used to it, but it plays very well and looks lovely too. Saw silvergun as usual dominating the scores managed a 69th place on arcade but it is brutal.
Still to figure out some of the ins and outs of the scoring but i am getting better at it. Like "schmups" (for want of a better word)? then this really is a no brainer of a purchase.

              It's awesome fun. Loving it.

Most of that score was just an end of level bonus from the first stage!

I've settled down on using the Rollback time capsule for Arcade mode. The only problem with this, is using it doesn't decrease your rank so I'm pretty much permanently on A rank! >_<

That's where that score came from - I think 21 million was from time spent in A rank as a bonus.

I'm finding this quite disappointing. Style over substance.

It looks and sounds fabulous and I find myself enjoying Story mode (when I'm not watching a cut scene) but there are many things I dislike. The ships I have so far are all way too fast. Pick-ups seem to be out of reach before they leave the screen. Backgrounds can be too detailed and obscure your vision. More fundamentally, the timer system blows. This becomes particularly obvious in Arcade mode, which has some nice Yagawa influenced scoring features and is aimed at the shmup enthusiast so I was expecting to like it more but it's infuriatingly difficult. It makes Ibara look like a cake walk. The time thing should've been completely removed here IMO. Dying when you haven't even been hit is retarded. The fact that half your game is made up of skipping fancy boss entrances is pretty frustrating too. The game's pace is completely FUBAR because of the cut scenes.

Still, Silvergun X has clearly found there's fun hiding in there somewhere. I'll persevere.

The game has been geared around analog movement. Playing with the D-Pad or a stick does result in movement being a little bit too fast, but try using a standard pad and analog stick like you would with Gradius V. Much, MUCH easier to control.

The most important thing to nail down is the first part of the first stage before the Sentinel. Practice being able to shoot down all the enemies here and get to the first Time Mass Stabilized with either a 5x or 6x multiplier.

If you can get this down, you'll have some really decent firepower (Usually at 4 or 5 upgrades) to go through the rest of the game with. I rock Rollback, so if I get hit, I can just rewind it. Prevents me from losing the powerups.

Been looking forward to this for weeks but I can't find much joy in the gameplay either. It's visually and sonically splendid, but the mechanics seem simplistic and leave me wanting. But to be fair I've played so much DoDonPachi Resurrection over the last 7 or 8 days that all but the very finest shoot em ups will pale by comparison.

I see this being akin to a Gradius or an R-Type as opposed to a danmaku shooter.

I'm going to try and do a video of my arcade play tonight.

Thanks for info, was going to do my usual and hook up my SF IV TE stick so will stick to pad. Horiz are always a prob for me I never enjoy them as much, Akai, Pro Gear and Grad V being exceptions recently. It got 13 shmups to compete with for me bought and another 5 downloaded so lot to live up to but I've waited for this for a year so was instant purchase this morning, just hope the arcade isn't flash over scoring and technique.

Let's get some scoreboards going tho and add each other
