Megalolz at the first battle!! One enemy on screen, enclosed space, mostly dark... Fluctuates between 60fps and about 15!!

Epic Lolz.... Supposes the jokes on me!

Edit 5 - why have they changed the noises of the monsters?? A high pitched screech is now a really low dull hum, and the other ones now sound like crickets??!!

Thats weird because the framerate seems like its locked at 30fps on the 360.....with no fluctuation the whole time i've played it.

        Some positives!

Indoors, frame rate is much improved with a few drops here and there. Massive difference between in and outdoors.

I like Maria's new actress, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn. Not only does she do all the vocals for Yamaokas previous SH music, but she's also damned good, and still seems to make Maria sexy as she should be with her husky voice. Plus, she's Motoko Kusunagi, how can you dislike her?

Lack of loading times over the original.

        Yamaokas music improves everything.

Now for a test of SH3...

Why have they removed the babies cry from the intro of SH3?? How random??

Edit 6- the intro which shows ingame cutscenes snippets show clips of cutscenes with frame rate skips and unreal engine levels of texture pop in...

The sound of heather walking on metal grating is REALLY loud...

Edit 7- OMFG. When an enemy attacks you on SH3, it's like you're running through treacle. I mean literally single digits. Every time. Running up the opening staircase to the coaster was entirely in slow motion as there are enemies on every level.

            Un-****ing-believable.

Weirdly the colour in SH3 is normal, and the font is displayed correctly ...

Sound in cutscenes is still borked, someone fires a gun and the sound goes off after.

They've completely removed the grain filter over the whole game. Why??

Heathers new voice, although well acted, sound like a 40 year old. Douglas' new voice is the same that did Harry Mason in Shattered Memories. Shouldn't have a guy doing two voices in two SH's for two people, ruins the illusion. Especially when there's no attempt to differentiate the voice between characters.

... I realise I've turned this thread into a mini blog... Sorry! But the people must know!

I appreciate your SH blogging. Very curious about this, as I'm a huge SH fan but will be avoiding this like the plague. Your posts mean I can experience the horror and disgust at this botch job through you and hopefully save my own sanity. Your sacrifice is not in vain.

Thing is, sad to say, they're still great games and in some respects look fantastic in HD.

It's just a complete and utter botch job from start to finish. With the incredible work done by Bluepoint on MGS HD, I'm just so shocked that they gave it to a complete unknown rather than them. Shows what utter distain Konami have for the Silent Hill brand as of late I suppose.

I just don't get the point of this collection in this state. The fans are majority of people who would buy this, but they are also the ones that will pick up on every mistake. The fact that it's not just small changes like I've mentioned, but reall game crippling stuff.

I'm appalled at SH3's treatment, I really am. Any (small) amount of care they had went on 2, and 3 seems left by the wayside.

Seriously hoping there is an uber patch, and a seriously considering not buying Downpour tomorrow based on this money making exercise.

I can't help but imagine what a wonderful experience this would be if someone like Bluepoint had this project... In fact I worry about my order of the Devil May Cry collection after this!

Note, I caved and bought downpour. The destructoid review said its the closest thing to old school survival horror we've had in a while, that pretty much sold me.

From what I can gather, there's a fairly lengthy answer to that one.

I understand still buying it though, I knew it would be borked but it's still an enjoyable experience, and still wante it for my collection.

It's a shame, but lucky I've played them before and have the ability to play the originals still. My concern is for people playing them for the first time, don't want people thinking this is how they were!

Also, it's a shame as because of the uproar, people won't buy it. Kpnami will interpret this as noone wants Silent Hill and won't make anymore

Or they might realise they should aim higher and not release half-assed products? I guess it could go either way but I'd see the collection doing well as being potentially more damaging in the message it would send to Konami.

You're right, it could certainly go either way. I think personally, due to the uproar there's going to be some patching involved. In the meantime, it's already a budget title and will certainly go cheaper, it's still worth pickin up as a SH fan.

I paid ?17.85 for it and don't feel too robbed just yet, but then I haven't got further than the first 30 mins of each, an I'm living in hope of a patch!

wow only 30 mins and you had all those problems...

Do you have a 360? the wall of fog is there still, but weirdly seems better in some areas, and it has a couple of issues already mentioned, but its way better than wat you described of the ps3 version.

Not a good conversion by any means, but still nothing to really hamper your experience.
