    Compromised (XLIG) review

I did the trial of this. It's a twin stick shooter with cavern progression.
Right trigger fires missiles in the direction of travel (nice!)
Left trigger drops bombs which explode when hit by enemies or by you shooting them (nice!)
Various power ups on the coloured buttons (shield, 360 splash, spreadshot, gravity bomb). Nice!

You also have to battle against flow sometimes (a bit like wind) which can work against your ship but can also carry your bombs towards the bosses. Bosses look interesting.

The main thing here is that it isn't like Geometry wars. It's more like Cybernoid but with twinsticks.

Really tempted to buy it. 240pts.

If anyone got the full thing, please let me know what it's like.

I'm supposed to be writing up the Dodonpachi review but this has had me side-tracked. I'm a few levels in now and really enjoying it.

The scenery is simple but keeps suprising with multiple levels of parallax showing gaping holes in the background and and conveys a feeling of being inside something organic - maybe I missed some of the plot but I think that's what's going on anyway. The plot is driven by snippets of text in a similar way to Rez, hinting here and there.

The craft is quite heavy in terms of changing direction, so evading stuff has to be planned a fraction in advance rather than dodging past bullets at the last second - this makes a refreshing change from all the Cave stuff.

I'd say it's pretty tough, although now that I'm upgrading the ship, it's becoming manageable - the good news is you won't be able to clear a level first time around, even though it might be obvious what to do. You have to work hard.

The camera pulls out and in for dramatic effect.

The gravity bomb is cool, although you don't spend much time looking at it because if you get too close, you'll be squished too.

I'm pretty sure many people here will love this. I'll get a review done once I've played it through (and again on hard mode too).

Completed this now. I have claw hands and sore thumbs. Brilliant.

          Loved everything about it.

The upgrade path is just right, so you play levels over a few times till you either suss it out or need to collect upgrades to make it easier the next time. Luckily there's a reset data button for repeat play.

I'll write up a proper review over the weekend.

They are working to get it on Steam which is ace news. Everyone that likes shooty stuff should try this.

Thanks for the post Charles. Expect some more info coming soon as we get ready to release our beta PC build to Desura and IndieCity. Right now we are working to finish up the demos and fix some pesky PC bugs.

Downloading the trial now. Have you done a review Charles? Feel the site could promote a lot of the indie stuff on XLIG and PSM & minis and just general a lot more and review them a lot more and it fits with the site ethos, ie no borders on games.

Why bother, nobody talks about them on the forum even when they are posted.

Deathmatch, Hoarde and COOP have now been added to this. Free if you already own it. If you don't, buy it.
