    Max Anarchy Demo [PS3] review

Surprised no one has done a first play for this, but the demo has been up on the Japanese PSN for a few days now.

This new game from Platinum never excited me like Bayonetta or Vanquish from the early previews and videos shown.

Playing the demo though has changed my mind and made me somewhat hopeful for the final game.

Graphics wise it looks sound although the settings look a bit uninspiring. Hopefully the full game has more colourful & interesting areas. Presentation is pretty good also.

Gameplay was a lot of fun though, I could pull off some cool moves without too much effort, just a bit of button mashing!
The demo is one stage with an objective of clearing the stage of enemies. But you can also start side quests within the level for other fights.

As I said I enjoyed the demo from my low expectations, I can only hope the full game has more variety and story elements other than just clearing the level. I'm not sure how the multiplayer will work either as it could be a button mash fest if their not careful.

Both Vanquish and Bayonetta are among my favourite games of this generation, but I'm not entirely feeling Max Anarchy. On GAF I noticed the demo was out and they were babbling about most fun game of the year and all that ****e. Basically the same bs they screamed over the now pretty much defunct Twisted Metal game.

Well, I did get a TM vibe with this one. and thats not positive. A ****ty -more-like-tutorial- single player, a potential decently fun multiplayer thats being bugged by a rather lacklustre presentation and clunky menus overall.

The camera is very close to the character, the framerate isn't that high and the resolution is sub HD. Its quite blurry at times and sometimes I couldn't really notice what was going on. You can engage in nice fights but there is some slight lag going on. This is about the 4 on 4 multiplayer.

The gameplay is solid and its probably the closest were gonna get to Power Stone but I'd much rather have a more colorful art direction. I'm not sure about this one, Max Anarchy does not look like it'll worth the full buck but for a reduced price it might be worthwhile for a laugh. However, I have the feeling this one will stay in Japan and I'm not going to pay those rates.

Anarchy Reigns was my top game of Eurogamer last year, the multiplayer they had on play was incredible. I'm still hopeful for this.

I tried the demo and really enjoyed it, found it to be fun and like old school, but its defiantly no Bayonetta. The graphics are good but nothing special, the only thing that has me worried is the camera, its too close sometimes as others have said and even worse it pans around and seems to have a mind of it own on far too many occasions for my liking. I would probably pick up the game at some point.

I played the 360 demo last night and had no issues with frame rate or resolution. Looked fine to me. Playability was the issue for me. I mean, it controlled well but it just seemed like a load of button mashing. Also, the camera was annoying at times and I didn't really like the random mess of the characters appearing out of nowhere. Bayonetta was fantastic as was Vanquish but I just don't seem to be getting the same polished feel from this game.
