Picked this up up a few days ago and I've managed to play through every song (of which there are 32) on normal so far. I've only played Extend on PSP prior to this so I'm not particularly well versed in the series as a whole, in fact I had to go back and play Extend briefly to see what the differences/similarities were as I've barely touched that game since I bought it (thanks to Monster Hunter Portable 3rd).
The first obvious difference is how much better the Vita version looks graphically. This game looks absolutely gorgeous on Vita thanks to the Vita's OLED screen. The PSP version looks quite dull in comparison and the increase in size of the screen from PSP to Vita really helps to show off how much better the game looks too. The character models and background videos are noticeably more detailed and everything just looks much more vibrant than the PSP version.
Gameplaywise the game is pretty much identical apart from added star notes which require you to swipe the screen when prompted. I've seen concerns from some people that this addition lessens the quality of the gameplay but it seemed perfectly fine to me. You can choose in the options screen wither you want to use the front or rear touch panel to hit these notes in case you're worried about your fingers getting in the way during gameplay. Difficultywise the game seemed slightly easier than Extend although as I said earlier I've only played through the game on normal to unlock each of the the songs on hard which I'll then need to play through again to unlock them on extreme difficulty.
The Diva Room section of the game is still here but despite tinkering with it for a few minutes I didn't really see the point in it unless you like to play dress up with the characters in the game. The game also has an AR mode in which you can take photos with Miku in them or watch her perform one of the many songs in the game in your very own room or in other public places if your that way inclined.
Overall I'm thoroughly chuffed with the game. It has dramatically increased my enthusiasm for the series to the point where I might consider going back and buying the other PSP games as well as the Dreamy Theatre expansions on PS3. I know I will certainly be picking up Dreamy Theatre Extend, which is due out some time this year I believe. It's also nice to finally have a top quality music game on Vita that can draw me away from the 3DS for a bit. Fingers crossed that DJ Max Technica Tune turns out just as well as this game did.
