I almost had my team wipe out on the very first mission you have any real control (not the first tutorial where it tells you every single move, the one after) - go me.

One of my guys got poisoned, which made the guy stood next him panic and start shooting randomly at the rest of my squad. This was maybe two turns into the mission! Everyone came away injured apart from one who didn't come away at all

Since then I've been doing pretty well though its still early days. Last thing I did last night was a bomb defusal mission which was as tense and exciting as any FPS or horror I've played recently! Just about scraped through with one turn remaining plus I managed to capture an alien alive. There may have been fist pumps.

I have dishonored too but although that also seems like it'll be good, I just want to go back to playing XCom again!

I played like 2 hours of Dishonored yesterday....then this got into my disc tray. It hasn't left since, and I've been playing it non stop since basically 9pm last night (aside from sleep). I haven't been this addicted to a game in years! I love it. And that's not to say anything against Dishonored, it's awesome. But this is better IMHO (not that you can directly compare them, but this deserves your money more!).

Another late night/early morning playing this for me. Absolutely top quality game.

It's getting hard to keep countries happy now, I need more satellites but they take so long :/ France are about to leave my war effort

I'm stock piling them ATM. Got 3 in reserve, and got a satellite array on the way (can't remember what it's called, nexus? The one that lets you have more than 2 anyway.)

I don't really buy games lately (get them off lovefilm) but this I bought... I got it friday, and same day find out lovefilm were sending me it. I kept the one I bought, I couldn't wait and I figured if any game deserves the buy it's this. Seems to have lots of replay value too (randomly generated level(not 100% random just not the same map each time for the same mission)/ enemies for each?)

I'm many hours into this now and loving it, although I do miss a few things from the original. Great to see that the difficulty is still there though, and this update is certainly more polished!

Having said that I seem to have hit a significant difficulty spike at the moment, partly perhaps, of my own making- I've had several really tough missions back to back within days of each other, which has meant no time for my guys to recover from injuries before the next mission comes along. All my experienced squad members are now gravely wounded and out of action for almost 2 weeks, so I have no choice but to use mostly rookies, who can't hit **** and get slaughtered every time, which in turn is making tough missions ever tougher

Just hope I can hold out long enough for them to recover, and I don't lose any more countries (Mexico gave up early on!) I think I need to be a little wiser with squad choice in future, and make sure I always take at least 1 n00b along to get some experience!

            Must..play...more...

There's a skill you can but which halves the time spent in recovery- essential I found- as are the ones to increase your squad size. Although missions now sometimes net you experienced soldiers- handy.

Snipers are invaluable now as well- they have a skill which makes any cover full cover instead of half, and removes the accuracy limits on over watch. Get them and you can leave them bunkered in killing everything I sight!

The mission in doing - assaulting the alien base- is rock though. Hundreds of the spider enemies with loads of health charging you!

Proper gutting when your long serving hero gets blasted, Prinny said it reminded him of Cannon Fodder. Anyway so long 'disco' Delgado 15 missions and 29 kills.

Does anyone knows how specializations are triggered? I have Heavies and Assaults in abundance but only two Snipers and two Supports...Snipers are more than enough, but I want more Supports!

Anyway, this is an excellent game. If I have to nitpick I'd say that the continuous zooming between departments gets annoying real quick, but the missions are absolutely an ace to play.

It's just random I think. Just like ones that have (slight later game spoiler)

Psionic abilities later on in the game.

Spent hours on the full game yesterday, think I finally turned it off about 2am, loving it. Ended up getting it from steam, the pre-purchase offer including Civ5 was far too good to pass up.

I got it on 360, figured I'll get it on steam later on when there's a sale and it's like ?3 or something. Could be quite good for mods etc if they open it up for that.

I adore this game. Can't get of it. It hit number 7 in the charts so it's doing alright aswell, although it doesn't include digital and it's number one on Steam at the moment.

Deserves more sales though! Im hoping for another already!

Ugh, I can't face a Terror of the Deep remake!

I'd quite like a remake of Terror from the Deep, providing it doesn't have the same beyond-brutal difficulty level! I finished the first X-Com many times over, but I could never get anywhere in TFTD
