I honestly believe that they intentionally set out to make it look like that. It's style. I'm imagining amazing looking billion polygon models running around a full 3D Shibuya and it's making me sick

I believe constraints, can force you to be more creative. This game is charming in its cute non serious world that doesn't take itself seriously. It does the job very well.

I rather liked Cubivore. Similar theme, animals mating and eating, but purely cuboid. I thought it looked utterly gorgeous. Regret selling it now.

I have the J-Version, Dobutsu Bancho or sommat...Never did finish it but man, the music is flamin' wondrous.

I personally love the look of Tokyo Jungle...it's definetly born out of a small budget, but it has the feel of PS1 era random-em-ups. The pumping tunes, the chiming sound effects, the simplistic animation...It all just works.

Wish I could play more but my lady is all over this.

Played a bit more over lunchtime and now on a 6G Pomeranian and opened the alley cat

Got to 41 years and was aiming for 46 years because I would have got tons of experience points

Also think I made an effort about taking out the alley cats as I must have killed 40 of them before I reached the age at which It unlocked

Toxicity is annoying as travelling to Yanamote just took it out my dog pack with hardly any food enroute they just died off

Did try and fight a zebra which ended poorly for me but just before I died seeing a lion and running and hiding from a crocodile was funny

For me the graphics are fine and do the job well for what it is, I wouldn't want it better as it took me around 18-20 hours to download and that was at 4.2gb in size

I’m starting to get very bored of this. I had been hoping/expecting something with the structure and pacing of Cubivore, but the roguelike nature of it bores me terribly. There’s no focus. Or perhaps I need to make my own focus. But I seem to be doing stuff without seeing the point in it (gawd, it's Bangai-O on DS all over again).

It doesn’t feel like there’s anything to do other than unlock new characters. I’m not really interested in the “challenges”, because they all amount to eating or shagging within a time limit to unlock clothes. I’ve done that with a few creatures, and it’s just repetitive now. Unlocking new characters requires meeting the prerequisites, then finding said animal (easier typed than done!). After that I reset and move on. But the whole experience is like a sandbox without enough sand. I’d try the story mode, but I can’t unlock any more chapters.

The game world is also extremely small. I decided to ignore all the challenges and push hard into the park area, beyond the trains, but there really wasn’t anything of interest. Just hundreds of bears and tigers, and a cavern with chimps. Is that it? Because I might as well just in the starting area if there's not, you know, an actual thing to do or see in these places. This makes it even worse, because there’s dozens of animals to unlock and I’m basically just running around the same postage stamp.

Hmm... I’d much rather have preferred some proper goals to this, with clearly defined and permanent successes. Like Cubivore. Actually, I think what I really wanted was just Cubivore on my PS3. See what happens when you invent unfeasible expectations? Inevitable disappointment.

I think the main aim, in true JPN fashion, is to get those hi-scores. I think this is where the challenges come in.

Early days and only played it for around 2-3 hours if I have to be honest

And bought it because it was cheaper on PSN and word of mouth here

But it's enjoyable so far but I can't see it being a game that lasts, I gave it a 7 but argue moment it probably merits an 8 just because I got beaten up by a zebra and ran away from a crocodile

Has anyone got the PlayStation Mobile / Vita version of this?

The PS3 one is supposedly remote play capable but doesn't seem to work for me.
