Tank! Tank! Tank! - WiiU review

    Haha!

That pretty much how the game feels. I get the feeling there aren't many missions after having done 5 of them, but hopefully more than 6 or I may feel a little cheated. There are LOADS of tanks to unlock, with the last one being 500 medals, and at one medal per level...yup, you have to beat 500 levels to unlock it. That'll keep me going for a while!

Pure arcade fun, blasting robotic things with cannons, machine guns, rockets, etc. It's just what I need right now, jump in and play when I've got a spare few minutes, try to beat my scores and get MOAR tanks. Playing on the GamePad feels so right, and looks so good too.

    Love it.

I have no friends so can't comment on the MP yet...

Glad to hear first impressions are good. This is one of the four games I'm picking up and most sites seem to have overlooked it so info has been scarce

Local only? I was hoping that VGP would put orders for the WiiU up before the launch date but they didn't; I just hope they will do that before Christmas, my consumerism spirit is dictating me to buy something expensive for Christmas and the WiiU was the least bank-breaking thing I could think of.

I love the arcade, but only ever played it on my own. I can imagine the co-op is great fun and if a bunch of mates are playing it, this could be some people's fave out of the release titles.

How does online work with WiiU? Do you get headsets or anything? Is it completely silent?

I can imagine co-ordinating attacks with no voice comms could be tricky.

I love the monster design on this, especially the half-battleship, half-giant octopus!

                Shame it's local only.

I can imagine with a bunch of mates, this would be great though, like Goldeneye or EDF in years gone by!

Kong mode sounds cool, does it support 5 players? It'd be good if it does.

That was 2 player I think, but it supports 4.

In a funny way I'm enjoying this more than Zombi U or NSMB U. I'm stuck on the bit with the mammoths, it's solid. Can you level grind your tanks in this?

Yep you can grind your tanks on this.

From mission 20 or so onwards where you get the small waves then the bosses after them, I'm struggling to do them!!

I ended up completing the game last night, great stuff. I used the Gungnir, it was maxed out by the end. After the Mammoth's I didn't find it too bad, apart from the gorillas' insta-kill slide attacks, but they weren't that bad. Just keep collecting power up's because they give you your health back, and go for the blue ones against the bosses where possible. The Gungnir's Giga beam's a good one.

You can play multiplayer on your own as well, 4 tanks vs the monsters is absolute carnage! And playing as Kong was good fun as well, with a nice weapon if you power him up. It was pretty close, but I won, taking out 19 tanks.

Just trying to unlock all the tanks now, could take a while...
