    Littlebigplanet Karting review

Just like All Stars Battle Royale this is taking an early price drop thanks to sluggish sales so I picked it up hoping for some more solid Modnation action stylee. The front end is exactly as you'd expect from a LBP game complete with Stephen Fry's warm and fuzzy voice over. The menu works the same as the other games also with the main options being to play Story, Create or look at Created content online. There's a fair few tracks online and you'll immediately come across a mass of Mario Kart recreations which as usual capture the design layouts perfectly minus the charm of the original games. It's also pretty dead for players but you can play the AI on the courses anyway.

Story mode is the same as the normal games rather than going through GP's. You'll find yourself playing level by level across a patchwork Earth trying to get first place in each race and collect item bubbles as you go to further let you modify Sackboy and your kart. The game controls much easier than Modnation did. It's very easy to drift around the track and maintain your course. The main sticking point being the ropey framerate which feels like it's at a constant 20-25fps.

Generally it feels fun enough to cane through Story but it has a definite vibe of release schedule filler, offering nothing Modnation didn't already. Much like the LBP games are to platformers then, serviceable if decidely below the standards of the games it apes.

Finished with this and other than a few decent tracks this never manages to feel like a polished product. Some aspects work like the defense system but there's nothing special about it to keep you coming back.
