Mario and Luigi: Dream Team Bros review

First time, first play review so be gentle with me.

I have been looking forward to this, and I HAVE CHORTLES!!!

If you have played any of the other games you will be right at home here, the controls and general movement are identical to the other games.

The plot centers around pill'o island and its inhabitants and without spoiling too much involves Luigi sleeping a lot, and creating a dream world that mimics the real world but where Luigi has special powers that are varied and fun to use.

The overworld is presented is a isometric type viewpoint and battles can be avoided if you wish, though this isn't recommended as you will these to level the bros up.

Battles are turn based and each enemy has a tell and a counter, i always liked the more involved turn based battles you can through whole sections without getting hit at all it's a great system.

In the dream world you play as only Mario with Dreamy Luigi helping out, dreamy Luigi is the spiritual embodiment of Luigi and helps out with extra attacks and the luiginary attacks. These are the special moves you may have seen in the videos including the katamari style attack when you tilt the 3ds to scoop up the luigis in a ball and launch him into the enemy.

Both graphics and sound are really good, the backgrounds are polygons but the characters are sprites and really well animated, the dream world is all pastels and it looks really nice.

If you played any of the others i strongly recommend you play this its fun good looking and another great 3ds game.
    Go get it!

System seller? I love these games but I only have a Jap 3DS, and this game looks as good as the previous ones.

Anyone know how long this game is?
I'm about 7 hours in, it's good fun but I can't see me lasting for a 20-30 hour epic.

It's over 20 hours. I haven't finished it, but I think I have 27 hours on the clock.

Got round to finishing this last night - 41 hours on the clock & that's without saving all the Pi'illo's too...

Good game all round - funny & charming; doesn't break from the mould very much but it's pretty entertaining all the way through, Ironically, it could perhaps have done with being a little shorter, but there you go.

There is one badge combination (that I know of) that is pretty overpowered though - final boss spoilers ahead

The Gold Badge + Miracle Badge stops/freezes your opponent in time for a few turns. I had two of them stocked when I got to Final Bowser; I used both but he was dead & gone before actually getting a turn. Very surprising.

              Good stuff all in all.

LOL, nice one about the badges. I just used the healing badge (mushroom?) through the whole game.
