    Cloudberry Kingdom review

I have been playing this addictive platformer and thought i would share some impressions.

I think i maybe wrong but i don't think their has been a game like this, where platforming levels are randomly generated differently on each level and each time you play. I expected this to cause some layouts that did not work, but so far in 4 hours play i have not had any levels generate i could not beat.

For those that do not know the game is simple, get from one side of the screen to the other and escape through the door collecting crystals on the way. Each level is short no longer than about 5 seconds if you time your jumps and movements right.

As the levels increase the difficulty ramps up, requiring you to jump bigger gaps and deal with more obstacles in the way. Each time you complete a level and collect all the crystals your multiplier goes up. However miss a crystal or lose a life and it resets to X1.

The game is seriously addictive and has a very nice bold cartoon style in the graphics as well as some fantastic music which is certainly a modern take on the 8bit tunes from the NES days.

The game has various modes, my pick being Time Crisis. Gone are your lives and the crystals are now worth time, the idea is to clear as many levels before your timer hits 0.

The game also features 4 player multiplayer.

Just a shame that the WiiU version appears to have no online scoreboards.

It is available now on WiiU for ?7.99 and also on Xbox 360 and PS3.

Thanks for the impressions, I checked a couple of reviews at lunchtime and the general consensus seemed to be it was a 7 out of 10 game and could have been a bit cheaper priced. I'm tempted, but annoyed no online leaderboards for the Wii U version.

Did wonder how leaderboards could work though with randomly generated levels.

Plus I all too well remember how frustrating certain levels are on SMB Wii U and thought of my stress levels.

What is your Nintendo ID and I will add you.

I think ?7.99 is more than fair for a game of this quality. My user id is TheMole007, The game offers 4 arcade modes a story mode and a freestyle mode. While the levels are randomly generated i think i am correct in saying they all have 4 crystals which is what you need to get the big points. All of which can be played by upto 4 players. Its the perfect game to sit and play on the gamepad while watching tv

        Encouraging news re an update:

Apparently there's going to be online leaderboards after an update:

"We're definitely going to be patching in online leaderboards soon. Better yet, all of your scores will auto-update to it!"
Take from a forum post by JDarrell here

          Thats cool.

Its annoying that your highscores don't save a all, apart from your alltime best. No idea why they have that top 10 board as it gets reset when your turn it off.

Bought this yesterday and it is a fun game, just going through Story mode first, seems that way you can save your progress every ten levels. Not up to the Arcade Mode of having to clear 50 levels at a time just yet.

Quirky platformer, but well executed and needs the online leaderboards to give it even more "one more play" element.

Difficuly starts off really easy and moves up at a steady but enjoyable pace, how mental does this screenshot look though!

This game really is great, grows on you the more you play it for sure, I'm just going through Story Mode first of all, jumping off screen to the right to try land on a tiny platform a few pixels wide is nowhere near as painful as it sounds, don't find this game anywhere near as frustrating as parts of Mario Wii U. Thankfully.
