TMNT Out of the Shadows Main Menu review

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Out of the Shadows is the latest Summer of Arcade game. It stars the Turtles as they fight villains. It is a 3D coop brawler.

If you were a kid into the Turtles at the time of the first movie, this song holds a very special place in your heart. It is the sound of joy and happiness and magic.

The main menu TMNTOotS is a 3D scene of the Turtles silhouetted against a dark and moody NYC cityscape. This scene is awesome as ****. You see this and are immediately ready to eat pizza and knock some Foot Clan heads together. It is accompanied by the rap song from the first movie (linked above) and when you hear it with that scene, it is everything a grown man wants in a main menu of a Turtles game. It is powerful and moving and makes you remember the joy of childhood and for a moment you briefly forget the slow march towards death you undertake each dark and depressing day of your adult life. In this moment you think "Maybe everything will actually be ok." and you get ready to open the Xbox Live Marketplace and pay the ?9.99 to unlock the whole thing and bath in childlike joy. Maybe they have finally made a new, amazing Turtles game, they've certainly got the main menu right.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Out of the Shadows has the best main menu of the year. 10/10.

I had Partners in Kryme "T.U.R.T.L.E. Power" on vinyl. I sang along to the whole song when they played it at the Radio 1 Roadshow at Aberystwyth when Nicky Campbell was hosting.

I think I might buy this!

I've heard it struggles to maintain the framerate at around 30 fps, which is something that just won't do for me. This late in a console's life cycle, I expect more from a main menu.

Is there a game or just a menu?

Chopemon, that is the best opening to a first play thread in forever. Everything you said is bang on the money including the part about adult life and death. The good thing about this main menu is it's free as it come with the trial. Just don't click start game, that's where the disappointment kicks in.

The main menu is the best thing about this abomination.

Why do the turtles have nostrils and noses, it's kind of like micheal bay has slipped the devs a few bucks to put the designs out there, I really can't wait for the train wreck that is his turtles film, it's like he hates the 80s and is trying to destroy it, what's next a back to the future remake or a goonies film he could bugger them too.

So back to the game I've gone off on a tangent, so slow walk April o Neal followed by a very dark fight in an alley, and some terrible cut scenes, summer of arcade my arse more like the death throws of The Xbox 360, good bye old friend you have given me many summers of fun shame about This one.
                There I go rambling again.

I agree worst summer of arcade on the 360 didn't really like any of them, and 4 weeks not five for the first time, lets hope next years summer of arcade on Xboxone will be as good as some others were in the past.

I still do, remember scratching Splinter's Tale at a House Party once, went down like the Hindenberg
*edit: House Party is only capitalised in honour of my avatar.

                      Not even Brothers?
Was about the only game worth it for me on this years Summer of Arcade, there's always one game.
I didn't try the rest though, may give them a look soon. Git distracted by Saints Row 4, Rayman and Killer is Dead.
I'm looking forward to witnessing the T.M.N.T title screen though.

Summer of Arcade hasn't been good since what, 2010?

                        Flashback reportedly sucks as well.

Best thing about the main menu, which I'm very disappointed no one has mentioned is it's almost exactly the same as the cover for TMNT #1 as seen here: http://www.recalledcomics.com/Teenag...les1cgc9.8.jpg

The trial didn't seem to bad, so I stumped up the ?9.99, having been graciously credited with ?8.50 after the recent change over. You don't realise just how unresponsive the controls are until there are hoards of enemies on screen, coming at you in never ending waves. It's not great but I think the 2.4 it got in the gametrailers review was very harsh.

This really is terrible. The camera, the controls. I got to the first door and had to do some stupid puzzle, so it got deleted.

What are you talking about? The game is actually very good. The amount of moves each turtle can pull off is fantastic. The animation is also very good. The whole game just flows very well.

As for the frame rate, who gives a ****. People are very picky these days. The frame rate isn't an issue for this type of game. It's not like it drops to below 30fps so all is fine.

EDIT: Seems like I'm the only one who likes this game. Oh well. Not that I care. As long as I'm enjoying my purchase

                              Right, back to EFD4.
