    Resogun [PS4] review

Well from me not paying attention to the videos about on the net, I was under the impression that this was practically the same as Super Star Dust/Strike HD. It's a linear 360 shooter, meaning that you can only shoot left or right, not at any kind of angle, but it does so in a wrap-around world.

The idea is that you have to rescue the last remaining humans on that world by destroying the "keepers" which release one. Then collect the human and throw (!) them into the rescue pods at the top of the screen. Oh and shooting the humans doesn't kill them but tosses them into the air and they'll die when they hit it, so don't.

Took me a good few tries to get all humans saved on the first level, and then I almost lost all my lives on the boss. Great for score-chasing but not really much beyond. Stereoscopic 3D would have been awesome for this, shame they didn't go with it. At least I can force my TV to do it but it's just not the same.

    Free is a great price

I've hoped for this since the birth of this as super stardust was immense in 3D can't believe Sony hasn't pushed for 3D with the PS4 only Trine 2 has it implemented
As for RESOGUN can't wait to sit down with it as this is my type of game loved it at Eurogamer

This is the only thing I'm remotely interested in. I'll be sure to give it a bash when I eventually get a PS4.

I think I have barely managed 5mill points on this and my multiplier dies all the time. Heyho learning curve

Yeah, the game looks really sweet. I'm desperate for a bit of a sesh on it. Unfortunately none of my friends are getting a PS4. Maybe my indie will have it downloaded one day.

This became the only game I actually played (except for a half hour of BF4) yesterday after I plugged in my PS4. I couldn't stop. Put the controller down five hours later when I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer
            "Keepers detected!", "Armageddon!"

            Super addictive.

Best horizontal shooter I've played since Gradius V.

Fairly sure VersusCity will have it soon.

This is amazing. I absolutely love it. Just discovered you can juggle humans. Gonna try that tonight (as if there wasn't enough going on already).

Have only played this on remote play so far but it sure is excellent. I have not enjoyed a game so much like this since geometry wars. Spent more hours on this than most of my next gen titles.

Was back to trophy hunting on this last night.
The juggling would explain how to get the "save 2 humans in 1 sec" one.

Careful you don't drop them like I did chucking 4 about last night straight through the floor... Whoopsie

Loving this. Not normally a fan of twin stick shooters but this is no ordinary twin stick shooter. It takes inspiration from some of the greatest shooters, adds ideas and layers of its own, and wraps it all up in a beautiful display of destruction.

Initially I was grinning at the sheer amount of colour and pieces of enemy flying everywhere, then the intricacies of the gameplay started slowly creeping in and I got pulled into the zone. Total concentration. Really addictive stuff.

As I said, I'm not normally a fan of twin stick shooters. They're 'okay' but I generally get a bit bored of them after a bit, and the worlds can be too alien to make a connection with. Resogun has much more interesting levels, and the cylindrical field just feels tight and right.

I could buy any full price game for the system tomorrow and I doubt it'd be anywhere near as good, which I suppose is a good and a bad thing. But great shooters are rare, and getting a game like this and Super Mario 3D World in the same week ... I couldn't ask for more.

Such a brilliant game especially after reading up about the green ships, throwing humans and stuff. I just need to get the hang of how to keep multipliers going. Sometimes it gets quite intense onscreen with all sorts around you. Especially loving the giant explosions at the end of levels with all the particles.
