Finished this now and to be honest I found the best way to approach it was like AC, like a proof of concept. The building blocks are certainly there and in parts it's good fun, the backend of the game dips into being an exercise in tediousness at times. Hopefully the sequel represents the same imprrovement that AC2 did over the original.

I rinsed this the other week and man, I have to be honest I am really disappointed.
The gameplay bored me to tears, the story was boring as hell and it was all far too easy. Also pop ups and slow down in a supposedly next gen game is really not cool. The curse of cross gen strikes again, and don't get me even started on the mess that were the online features. The best thing about the game was for me the survival horror/stealth mini game they have in it. Now that was fun and really tense.
To be honest I had much more fun with Kill Zone: Battlefall and that's really saying something.
What a waste of money.

I made the mistake of thinking there where some inventive ways to complete missions in this but its really not that well put together is it, in an early side mission "NO PARKING" im tasked with knocking over a bad guy to give him a scare, if i kill him its a fail, i initially got up to him via the cameras thinking this is the way your supposed to do it, you know blow a water pipe or circuit board knock him over, sneak out hacking skills ftw, but blowing a water pipe or shorting a fuse box with him next to it doesn't work it kills him.
I got so pissed of with it i looked on YouTube to see what I'm supposed to do as nothing was working, seems i supposed to kill everyone and then hit him with a nightstick, using the environment or my hacking skills to my advantage is not what I'm supposed to do,
Watchdogs has left me pretty cold to how average it is, i knew i wouldn't get on with it, but i bought into the hype and now its sat there taking up HD space. Ubisoft seem to be the kings of bringing out these really average games that seem to sell well despite being not that polished heavily recycled and not that interesting to play.
i don't get how they can recycle game play mechanics across all there games and get away with it. Watchdogs takes the really boring instant fail trailing Assassins creed missions to new levels of awfulness, and they love there towers/viewpoint things for unlocking the map, i feel like I've done this before a million times already in there ac games and they even used this in Farcry 3!!Last edited by Lebowski; 19-06-2014, 13:51.

So I'm a few hours into this now. Still early on Act 1, I've been messing around building up my reputation. I've kept gun use to a minimum but I've bought some cool guns including a big f*ck off sniper rifle, I cannot wait to try that out on some mofos. I'm trying to be a good guy and kill only crims, no cops so far, it's tricky on some of those cop chases I've had to hide in the river a few times!!
One thing, it's very overwhelming at first. There is almost too much stuff being thrown at you. I find I'm distracted very easily by pop ups and graphics, side games phone calls etc and have to be very disciplined to get things done. But once I got over this, I've really started to enjoy it. I can see myself spending many, many hours on this.

About 15 hours in, I'm loving it! I've had some real 'Heat' moments using the traffic and cars to take out convoys with my assault rifle.
I also did some online racing with 8 players, it was hilarious, great fun. It was like multiplayer Road Rash on 'roids!
There's lots to love and it's awesome when it clicks. I'm sure after about 80 hours I'll be bored but I'm long way off that at the moment.
