As soon as you can, venture online. It's currently the Xmas season with daily updates and free vehicles etc. I think it ends on the 5th.

Even though it feels a bit spoilery, go for a long drive. Much of the start of the game is focused in the city and whilst you have missions elsewhere there is much that isn't really used. By the time you're back in the city to carry on the game you'll have new love for what Rockstars built.

Has anybody dabbled in the stock market?

There are ways to make BILLIONS of dollars if you play your cards right (and invest in the competitors of CEOs you're about to assassinate!)

Yes dabbled a bit mate, there are guides online that tell you what companies to invest in before certain missions, they work like a charm.

Played five hours today, which is four hours more than I've probably put in to any other GTA. Still not loving it yet but it certainly plays well enough and the city seems impressively huge. Having no experience of the games I don't really know what I should be doing half the time, but I'm sure it'll get better as I get used to it.

I completed a mission once without doing anything. On my third attempt at hijacking a lorry, I accidentally caused a massive pile up at a junction, the blokes got out when I started shooting at them and a truck piled into them and killed them all.

I got in the lorry and drove up. It was poetic.

Now that I'm as far as having the third character (Trevor is it?) it's starting to click more. The size of the world is massive. I took a drive from out in the desert to the centre of the city, incredibly impressive how it all looks.

I'm going to follow this guide:

After I've found all the hidden money suitcases so I've actually got some money to invest!

                        And thus it begins. Enjoy!

Just don't get me started about the dozen consecutive times I crashed the plane on landing from the first flight mission. If only I'd realised about clicking for the landing gear to come down I may not have had to sit deciding which wall to throw the controller at. Landed first time upon realisation of putting the gear down. Total dip****.

How does the chat thing work?
If you walk up to someone and press D-pad right, you say a friendly hello, but keep pressing it and you say aggressive things?

A woman got upset by the way I was talking to her - "You can't say that, I'm British!", then got her phone out and called the cops on me!

I was surprised to see boobs, even if it was at the Playboy Mansion homage!

Clocked this in the early hours of this morning (thank god I chose option C) love the end credit music tracks. I'm stil pretty said though, I want more missions. Still need to get Franklin a chopper or plane and land on top of one of the buildings so I can get that Dom mission completed but I HATE flying in the GTA games. Cant stand it. Aside from that there was one mini mission where I had to take out loads of real estate For sale signs but A) Your map doesnt remove the ones you've done from the map so you cant remember if you've already done it and B) they're REALLY hard to find FFS.

Still loved it and am waiting on the new episodes/sequels with baited breathe. No doubt there will be even more geared towards this gen rather than ps3/360 so should look even more impressive hopefully. Even if they dont make improvements to the game engine its still an amazing thing.

I don't remember having a problem with this one, don't they just show up on your map? Bit of a tedious mission though I'll agree.
