Just come back later with a better blade and madskillz and stab him in the guts like a man. None of this cheesing him to plummet to his doom cheapness, if you please!

Haha - although I'm doing far better at this than I thought I would, I'm a way off madskillz

Same here. I need to get to grips with the parry/stagger. Normally, shooting at bad ass enemies just gets me killed. I have some badges but no idea how/where to use them. Use is always greyed out, even in the workshop in HD.

Badges open up items that can be purchased at the Bath Messengers.

Shoot/Parry was too hit and miss (heh!) for my tastes. Worked quite reliably at first and was useful with some slow-moving enemies, but by midpoint in the game when my melee stuff was powerful enough I pretty much gave up on firearms, at least until

            I obtained the cannon

. Without some clear visual or aural clue indicating some kind of parry 'window' (like proper action games do) it felt a bit woolly.

You don't even need the Blunderbuss. Any gun can knock him off. As soon as you get off of the ladder, you just open up on him. Three shots and he falls to his death.
              Kept you waiting, huh?

Yep, that's how I did it. I had the starting pistol, ran right up to him and just kept firing.

                  Managed to beat the

                  Shadows of Yharnham

finally with help although seems to take 10-15 mins for help to come now as opposed to the 5 mins on previous bosses. Beat another Hunter now on the dreaded
such an awful boss others on Reddit seems to have a similar opinion. Even with help my helper gets killed also.On one run got like bar down to a quarter. Levelled up a bit now, but seem to be hitting a lot of brick walls in this. Starting to think should have choose Witcher instead in some respects. I do enjoy Bloodborne in parts but so stressful in others, I suppose as my first time to play a Souls game perhaps approaching it wrong.

Have beaten Cleric Beast and Father G but am now stuck in the Cathedral Ward part - I can't kill the **** on top of the turret on the path to Old Yhartham - ive managed to kill the guy with the gun who is on the level below, but when I climb the ladder to kill the gun turret man, he combos me before I can do much damage.

Is there a tip for this bit? I'm level 28, so feel that should be enough?
For this I had just the pistol. I ran to the left then hit him a few times to knock him off.

, who is eminently do-able and enjoyable in solo. A terrific boss. BTW, with regards your evident frustrations as a newcomer - as you say - to the Souls games (if indeed this is a Souls game): they meant to be stressful and dying a lot is part of the game. Losing to a boss 4 or 5 times is nothing.

Rom isn't that hard...you can even completely skip the second phase (after the first teleport) with a heavy weapon like the Hunter's Axe if you have enough stamina. During the second phase, I ignored the lesser spiders and concentrated on Rom itself, taking a few two-handed hits, backing up, and repeating.

Cheers Golgo I will look at those pages. You are right about the dying thing/frustrations. Finding it really hard to come to terms with the constant dying and especially getting close to beating something then miles away from beating it for the next 5-10 tries. Seems Souls players try and try again and also have a break come back the next day for me this is something completely alien in gaming seems like the Souls games give a new experience of gaming that most games don't explore, even Alien: Iso recently on Normal it was hard but felt doable at all times Bloodborne on the per hand... Looking forward to reading the advice from here and see what it brings...

Thanks Briareos will try this tactic and up my endurance too.

At lvl 36 I went back to Blood Starved Beast with some silver bullets and the intention of practicing the stagger/parry trick. I tried shooting him at various times, especially when he was just beginning to launch into one of his attacks. At no point did my shots stun him, and the delay just meant he landed each blow. I resorted to my usual approach of side rolling like a mofo, then steaming in with 3-4 R1 attacks, rolling away, repeat.

I'm satisfied that I took him out, but not that I still have no idea what I'm doing with the gun.

Also, tower dude was not placated by the death of the aforementioned beast. He still wants me dead. Pretty sure I can take him out now, even without the parry. But I'll need about 10 blood vials.

IIRC you need to talk to him and not attack any of the beasts there. He will turn hostile if you attack anything there.

Stuck at BSB - I can get the parry to work most of the time, but only up to the point where it's health is about half way. Then he seems to get quicker, and I always get pummelled. He also has (gains?) an attack where he picks me up and drains any remaining health I have.
