Halo 5 (Xbox One) review *PLEASE BE CAREFUL OF SPOILERS*

The actual gameplay is really good, just the narrative fails in a couple of places. It's almost like the developers are living in a vacuum and aren't quite aware of what is going on and what isn't. I guess this happens in movies too, but it can be quickly changed in the edit.

The multiplayer is up and running now, so am giving it a test run

can you set up Warzone as a PvE only match?

have not played the game but read that out of 15 campaign missions only 3 times you get to play as Master Chief. that's a huge letdown for me. i don't like this Locke -- guess it's a result of this incedibly bad movie they produced to introduce him.

You only play as him for 3 missions, but that is because many of the Locke missions are extremely short. Some of them are simply exploring and talking to Npcs. You spend about the same time as each team

No, warzone is a competitive game type.

1st Level was utter pants and didn't look that great, 2nd level is so much better and so HALO and just ace simple fine with the classic HALO firefights and some of the best sound and music from a HALO game in years . I couldn't careless about the story the game is just fun to play and have a blast with

Campaign co-op, excellent.
Multiplayer Warzone, Breakout and SWAT, sheer brilliance.

Now all I want is a steady stream of forge maps thrown into the mix before Xmas once everyone has bedded in the controls and tactics.

Not a fan of Warzone to be honest, just don't enjoy it. Breakout is... Okay- but I haven't really "got" it yet. Liking SWAT more for some reason this time after hating it in the past.

TBH I just really enjoy arena - I knew I would as I always have in previous games. Somehow ended up in diamond rank for FFA and SWAT though- frustration inbound haha

Agreed about Warzone, didnt like it at first but stuck with it to get the cheeve. Love it now.

Yeah Warzone takes time to bed in and doesn't explain everything that well.

Once it clicks though it's great fun. I'm just hoping they really open up the maps for it as right now they're all a bit too intricate. I'd prefer something like a battlefield conquest map with longer sight lines.

Deep into Mission 5. Feels like a pretty natural continuation of Halo 4 so I'm enjoying it. Locke is a weak addition in terms of narrative, without the additional non game stuff it makes little sense why you play as him so much but he's no different than Chief so it doesn't affect the gameplay at all. Story is here nor there paper thin stuff but the more open levels, especially where vehicles are available, continue to be a fun draw.

Its the best sounding Halo for a while too . The music is great and the sound effects are the best I've heard in any game to date !
