Time for this First Play to begin. Returning to the game is a reminder of how short an adventure it is, I'm very quickly progressing through it and am now about to start the fourth of eight main dungeons. Very, very little seems to have changed from memory making this a visual and quality of life type update but it works well. I wasn't entirely convinced on the visuals at first but in hand they work well. Some have complained about the edge of screen blurring but I stopped noticing it after the first minute. It's an easy and breezy instalment and re-energises the game making me wonder if the other Zelda's for handheld would enjoy a similar fresh air vibe with this treatment. A cel-shaded Minish Cap remake would be nice to experience.

There's no escaping the framerate issues, it's constantly noticeable but doesn't impact gameplay. The game clearly has issues loading in new areas when you first step into them for a second or two but once it's effectively buffered that data it settles, though there are regular dips. If you're familiar with the GB version there's little else to add for this one but as I raised in the Switch thread, as someone for whom BOTW felt somewhat bland, this is a lovely love letter to the purest form of Zelda.
