man, I love music in games, but this along with FPS games, I turn it off so I can hear those footsteps or grunting.

...what an absolute drip of a girl!

Obviously I'm quite glad I resisted the temptation to cut her down when I had the chance

(my trigger finger was twitching in that shack, and now she's back safe and untouchable in Roundtable Plaza)

, but she gets right on my tits every time she speaks.

Is it more demon souls or dark souls?

if you mean how the progression plays out, then like neither, you're free to explore and sequence break around story bosses to reach other large areas to explore. Thankfully nothing as crap as black/white levels to deal with.

I'm loving the amount of welsh accents in the NPCs... hilarious and great to hear at the same time.

The thing I'm really enjoying, is the fact that whenever I come up against an enemy I just cannot overcome (looking at you damn dirty

                  Citadel Knight

, I go ok, I know there is a section of the game that is suitable for my level and I can go do other stuff and actually be able to play the game rather than beat my head against the wall.

                    which version

found him 3 times now, couldn't beat him in the evergaol for ages, his damned tail whip after a standard sword swing just did to much damage and so hard to avoid, but after getting to level 60+ reduced the damage i took from it enough to win.

Cheesed his stormveil castle edition by having him fall to his death

Not beaten his belfrey tower one yet.

That's good to hear. I never mind dying over and over in these games but getting super-punished for it is too much.

It feels slightly more like Demon's with regards to weight of combat and artistic direction but is very different to both games in other key aspects.

I prefer Dark/Demons/Bloodborne personally. Now that the novelty of Elden Ring's majestic and fantastical world has dimmed somewhat, I've started experiencing sessions where I've just been traversing the map aimlessly, not knowing where to go, sometimes spending hours poking around in corners of the terrain, frequently without reward as large areas of the world are relatively devoid of decent discoveries. I also find the loose mounted combat feels at odds with the deliberate, precise on-foot combat. I've a few other niggles too but I won't go into those. Still a very good game, mind, and definitely worth playing.

i don't get not knowing where to go, just the map alone has grace sites pointing at important things (let alone npc's at the roundtable telling you what to do), and it pretty clear the huge sites are where the 5 'story' bosses you're told to beat to become the elden lord.

what do you mean by 'relatively devoid of decent discoveries', not enough side content, the rewards aren't good enough, the caves and catacombs all have a similar tileset, churches and ruins are just waypoints with npc or reward?

Sometimes I find myself in areas that aren't worth visiting. Spend twenty minutes exploring some corner of the map and there's nowt there that made it worthwhile.

I think there are definitely some areas that are more devoid of stuff and clearly there just for atmosphere. I cleared a cliff-side graveyard of jellyfish last night. Wasn't a challenge at all but it was weirdly beautiful and atmospheric. I enjoyed it as downtime after spanking Godric and doing some quite harrowing jolly co-op (strangely this was a lot harder than when I soloed the fight ['soloed' with my ashen animal buddies, I mean]). And the sites of grace always point you - literally - to the next major story beat.

I totally get those small criticisms. For me personally I don't mind just riding around and checking things out, sure sometimes there is nothing there but when you do find something, it's generally a holy sh*t or wow moment, which for me is the pay off.
