I decided to find the entrance to

a tower in Caelid, which rsulted in avoiding a couple of dragons and climbing said tower along its external walls on any flat surface I (and enemies) could find. Reached the summit and activated Radhan's great rune...which I actually forgot was a thing you had to do. Ooops.
Once the summit has been reached, it's all the way down to the basement, with vertigo-inducing jumps and drops. The basement ends in a fight against a tall, white humanoid...which was fine for the most part, it uses a curved blade, some black flame attacks, it's agile...but then it was attacking the spirit summon and it effin' turns into Mr. Fantastic, its torso enlonging two/three times to prepare for a swing...that was scary!
But the fight was successful and the reward was a good amount of runes (100k with the Golden Scarab amulet), and a treasure chest with a colossal greatsword called the "Godslayer's Greatsword". Impressive name, I have STR and DEX to use it but not enough FAI...plus I don't really know if I want to replace the current curved greatsword, blood loss has been a huge boon against pretty much everything.

Elden Ring Side Quests Tracker “Shattered Ring” Developed by Fan Released

"With FromSoftware going the unconventional route in Elden Ring by not offering an in-game way for players to track side quests and NPCs (non-playable characters) they’ve interacted with, one fan decided to take matters into their own hands, as an Elden Ring side quests tracker app was created just for this.

Shattered Ring is the task tracker you didn’t know you needed for Elden Ring. The Shattered Ring iOS app is an RPG tracker to keep tabs on important NPCs, locations, and quests.

50ish hours with this now and throwing every waking hour that I can at it. Kinda knew this would happen - even if I'm not yet sure how I rank it among its peers, it's still head and shoulders above everything else I could be playing, and utterly, utterly engrossing. Also I guess it's nice that the sheer size of it means that I'm still discovering new places and tackling new things at this point, whereas normally by this point I'm getting into NG+ loops while finding ways to game tendency systems, farm items from invasions, or some other busywork to tick off the completion list. I have reached the point where I've started to consult guides for certain quest lines in fear of screwing them up, but I still feel like there's huge sections of the game that I have no idea about. That's exciting!

I'm about level 110 now with about 60 points in STR. I finally sacked off the weedy super-early-game sword for the 'Great Stars' warhammer, which still does the business in one hand, has got some nice scaling on top of bleed, and also has a very satisfying heft to it.

Still finding most 'Great Enemy' bosses are beatable first time with some pretty straightforward tactics, whereas the Shardbearers are the clear centrepieces with amazing stage design and back story setup, along with the kind of challenge you'd expect from a game like this.

Double post but just remembered I wanted to talk about an unexpected humourous moment (related to Shardbearer in Caelid region).

Summoning Patches in to during the Starscourge Radhan fight, and him just taking stock of the situation and immediately returning

i did know know i could still climb further up past grace site... i was thinking the basement boss that i've yet to beat had a lift behind him to the top. *facepalm*

Finished this today, took about 200 hours all told. Needed help with the endgame bosses, but explored every nook and cranny of the map. It’s been a beautiful experience, but I think I’ll wait until I get a PS5 to start the second (and third) playthroughs for the last two trophies.

So, my ever-providing Twitter feed told me that one Spirit Ash has its own very, very, very tiny plotline. You don't get anything from it, but here it, a Spirit Ash that is more than just a summon.

                  i assume it's

the Archer Lady, she couldn't physical leave the dead wolf so became a spirit for me, i've yet to do her request to spawn at some place called Liturgical (i think, was many, many hours ago i got her).

Nope, the Jellyfish. You need to activate it in a location I have yet to reach (it's snowy) where a talking non-hostile jellyfish is.

It might not be the only one, it wouldn't surprise me.

Man, i went follow back to following the Dark Path, it just goes deeper, and deeper, everytime i think i've hit bottom there's another lift or cliff/ruined structure to climb down.

One of the levels is a pink lake i saw much earlier in my travels from Ainsel Basin but with no way to get down the massive cliff. Its full of rot, even stacking 587 immunity between 2 talisman, mushroom outfit and the ant shield i was having to run long enough through rot to get poisoned, good fun

Found the game versions of the snake man

Joined the Tarnished (npc) hunting club in Volcano Manor, which gave me the key roam the house and get to lava filled hell-hole, when the snakeman stretched itself triple it's height it freaked me out a little , i've come across stretching enemies like the black flame types but this seems another level.

Got there myself yesterday, but how do you get to the part you mentioned?

i've not been in the lava bit yet but i can see a slope down to it, (other than getting to middle layer earlier as part of abductor teleport from the academy wheel lift) if you mean just getting out of the manor, the key of the lady open one of the rooms, saw a message in that room on the floor for 'secret' and rolled around for a hidden path which will eventually take you outside for a another large castle area to roam around.

New balance patch today and I understand a few things in particular have been nerfed - hoarfrost stomp (the current speedrun meta) and Mimic Tear (my beautiful bruiser boy) in particular appear to have been made slightly less effective. Aww.

Three Shardbearers down last night though, which marks good progress, even if only one of them felt like I'd earned it.

Morgott turned out to be the 'full' version of the Margit fight...
Rykard fell into the same category as DS3's Yhorm, Demon's Souls' Storm King...
Mogh on the other hand? That was a close fight. I liked it.

In light of the universal enthusiasm for the obvious qualities of this game I feel something of a churl as I've been struggling to continue. I think I just generally prefer the more enclosed labyrinthine experience of your standard Soulsbornes rather than this open world, which doesn't do much for me - especially when you find another duplicate cave system with a duplicate mini-boss at the end.
