What’s your thoughts compared to the other titles, Colin?

It took me a while to gel with it as buying the Japanese version I didn’t understand the story. I was a bit irked that they’d wholesale reused levels, but after reading up on the plot it all makes sense. In many ways it’s an EDF fans dream, some of the battles are truly epic in scale. There’s so much going on at times but it seldom collapses in to slowdown territory of old. (Though it defo still happens) There are some minor yet lovely additions like your character being able to auto climb small obstacles, and grenades being mapped to a separate button, which in some ways is a game changer. It pulled me out of many a dicey situation when my load out was a bit slow on the reload front.

Some of the new enemy types initially annoyed me, but when you really grasp all they’ve done with them they’re great new additions to the series. Ok, some are basically just reskinned older enemies in my opinion, but there are some really clever new ones. The final boss was a slight anticlimax to be honest, but I don’t know if I just happened to have the perfect load out at the right time.

All in I’d say it’s definitely been one of my favourites to date, I’m well in to my second run already and it’s not a chore in any way.

Hadn’t fired the PS4 up for months due to being back so heavily in to gaming on the PC Engine, but I had a hankering to dip back in to this last night. The great thing about these games is if you take a break from them, as soon as you return it just seems massively epic all over again, and it’s not exactly as if you’ll struggle to remember the plot as it’s irrelevant.

Nearly finished the play through on hard now, it’s been relatively easy going so far as my weapon load out is pretty tidy. They’re just such great games, looks like I’ll be splitting my playtime between systems again.

Finally out over here!
Only had time for the first 8 or so levels...but it's good to be back in EDF land. Last one I played was 4 on PS3 (where I got many "GO AWAY FOREIGNER" messages on the Japan servers 🤣)

No slowdown and giant frog men are new additions...got a few days off work from tomorrow so will be grinding away at the trophies.
