Mega Man Anniversary Collection - GC/PS2

In the spirit of old games that I enjoyed, I'm quite looking forward to this - contains Mega Man's 1-8 & 2 arcade games.

Don't think they've been tarted up at all - just bunged onto a disc.

It's just possible that I'm the only Mega Man fan within 100 miles though...

I want it too, but I want the Japanese version and I haven't seen a release date for that anywhere

So have you guys played any of the NES ones?

A lot of people love Megaman 2 the best and I do like MM2 but the original is my personal fav

Me too! Although I'm torn between the PS2 version and the GC version. Damn varying extra content...

What's the difference between the Cube and PS2 versions? Capcoms page seem to say the exact same for each version.

I'll be getting a copy though, good that it's a cheaper retail price (?17ish) too

I love the old style Mega Man games too. I already have 1-6 on PS1, although I have to say MM2 is still my fave.

My guess is that the games will probably be similar to those releases which had an original mode and an enhanced mode. The enhancements were pretty basic though. They allowed you to save with a memory card or password, allowed you to switch weapons with L1/R1 and had fancier looking life and weapon energy bars. Otherwse they looked the same as the original mode.

I don't know if there will be a Japanese version (which I would prefer too if possible). It wasn't that long ago Capcom released a bundle on the PS2 which had Rockman 1-6 and X7.

The GC version has a History Of Mega Man, along with some artwork - the PS2 version has an episode of the Mega Man cartoon I believe.

GC version for me - combined with the Hori pad for extra loveliness

Excellent point about the Hori pad.
                  Cube 'un for me then

Cheers for clearing up the differences too.

Yep will be playing this with the Hori pad too

Played 1-3 on the NES and 7 on the SNES, so should be familiar with them. The rest will be new however!

There are no plans as yet for a JPN conversion of this title afaik.

Major differences (apart from the different extras) are:
                          - the GC version loads a bit faster
                          - has improved image quality. (as do most GC games over PS2)

I also agree with the box art comment. >_<

Bringing this topic back since it's just come out.

I was interested in the GC version, but I've heard that the controls are fixed as B = jump, A = shot which is no good for me Hori pad or not . Does anyone else know anything about this?

Yes, essentially the buttons are a different way round to the original.
Also the GC version has less extras. (In the form of less remixed audio tracks)
