    Its the dumbest competition evaaarrr!!11!!!1!

Just watch FFVII win though if its anything like last years "Cloud vs Sephiroth final" best character competition.

It's stupid. It pits wholly mismatched games against one another.
Also, it's more to do with "most fanboys" ever. I fail to see how either SSB:M or FFX deserve to be in the top 8 or 16 games ever made.

There is no discussion of merit before voting takes place (especially since it's on the front page), there is an actual incentive for people to pick certain ones (there is a respectable prize for picking the correct ones), and I doubt everyone who hasn't played either one or both games in a poll refrains from voting.

In short, I really wouldn't read much into it.

I always vote for the underdog.

Go Tifa, you can beat Ryu!

This contest seems to be an example of the most redundant use of videogame logic that can possibly be applied to a competition.

If it was being conducted off the net, it would most likely be signed with crayons in a playground.

It's a great laugh. The number of toys that go flying out of prams when <insert favourite game> loses is hilarious (notably Halo).

The way I see it, this was never meant to be some sort of defintive award for the greatest game ever. It's more about the prediction competition that's tied in with it - a challenge to see how well you can predict the behaviour of the average GameFAQs monkey.
