    I'm new to all this

    Hey everyone.

Just registered to this, cos it comes highly recommended. Seems great so far, lots of discussion which won't bore the hell out of me.

Since I'm new I'll probably end up starting discussions that you've all already chatted about, but what the hell?

I've just bought an Xbox and Gamecube, impressed by some games, not so much with others. I need to break the cycle of buying games that look good but turn out to be horse****. Can anyone give me any brief feedback on these I've got my eye on?

    Halo 2
    Ninja Gaiden
Pikmin 2 (Not out yet I don't think)
    Viewtiful Joe 2

I'd go for one that's actually been released

Ninja Gaiden and Pikmin 2 have been released. The latter only in Japanese territories though.

And both appear excellent games, but flawed. Off the top of my head each game scored 7/10 on our review pages. You should check them

And it's 99.99999% sure Halo 2 will kick ass.

        Welcome to the forums.
(though i'm not too sure if the mods are tolerant about "hello, i'm new" type postings)

Anyway, about the games on your shortlist...
Well, i can only give you insight to Ninja Gaiden. Since it's the only one i have. The other 2 (Halo 2/ Viewtiful Joe 2) aren't yet released.

        Ninja Gaiden in a nutshell:
        - Looks nice
        - Has good array of moves
        - be prepared to use your right trigger. A lot.
        - It's tough

Firstly, welcome! Hope you enjoy your stay at ntsc-uk...I'm sure you'll learn to enjoy the commotion.
From what I hear Ninja Gaiden is rock hard but at the same time great. The first game I would buy if I had an Xbox, although maybe someone who's played it themselves will give you better feedback.
Check out the First Play area for threads on games, you'll find loads of info, feedback etc:

          Pikmin 2 - http://ntsc-uk.domino.org/showthread.php?t=22852
          Viewtiful Joe 2 - http://ntsc-uk.domino.org/showthread...ight=viewtiful

Im sure there's a Halo 2 thread lurking too...

            Whoa, that was quick responding!

Sorry about the I'm new post, was going for ironic. Never mind. And yes I know I can only buy Gaiden now, but there's nothing wrong with thinking ahead.

So far I've only got the standard games that come with the consoles, Halo, Wind Waker etc (amazing, by the way! Looking forward to the new one!) so I'm keeping my ears open for decent looking releases.

I'm not very knowledgable about online review and preview sites, get most of my info from mags that I read whilst waiting in the queue at Tescos, so if anyone knows a decent site for that sort of thing with trailers and the like, I'd appreciate it.

                  Welcome.

After playing Ninja Gaiden for over 12 hours I can not recommend it enough. I dont quite see what all the hassle is about the game being hard.

I have found it challenging but not 'christ this is hard' hard. If you like kick ass fighting/cool weapons/ challenging gameplay go for it.

                  Enjoy your time here.

Of this I don't doubt. I managed to catch about thirty seconds worth of the trailer from E3 before my crap PC decided to give up and die. Loving the hi-jacking the ghosts and the dual weapons they've introduced.

It's probably not a good idea for me to start looking at trailers at work though... Boss might kill me... But it's so tempting! high-powered pc I've been given to send bloody e-mail to the guy two rows down from me! Gah! Curse open plan offices...

Hey. If it's reviews you're after, why not try our own-brand, exactly what it says on the tin variety? Here's my Ninja Gaiden review:

Sounds impressive. I wasn't really impressed with Tenchu, but this seems better by far.

It's very different to Tenchu, much faster and arcade like. The First Play thread linked a few pages up goes into loads of depth about the game, as does Treb's review.

Viewtiful Joe 2 plays much the same as the first, but they seem to have toned down the difficulty. I expect they'll add a uber-hard mode for fans of the first, though. The demo I played of VJ2 was stupidly easy, with the enemies taking an age to attack each time. Still, I'll buy it on release

Mr Frosty, an ex TFC\ CS player per chance? I recognise the name...
