    My First Zelda

For some reason I din't play (console)games between my 12th and 23rd so I only got back into consoles late in the playstation era.
So i missed out on a lot of stuff. It also means that Wind Waker is the first zelda game i'm playing. I now know what everyone means when they go all misty eyed over OoT, as it's the same feeling i'm gonna have in a couple of years about the wind waker.

    Loving it.

Cool! That's what I like to see. A bit of enthusiasm.

Aw, I thought the title was a clever, if not misplaced, dig at the apparent simplicity and dumbing down of the series.

      Still, yeah. 'Tis great.

Same here. I've usually avoided these in the past, but after everyone said such glowing things about OoT, and because of the way people just sat in breathless anticipation for TWW, I ifugred" why not?" and got it. ANd boy am I glad I did. This is game is so wonderful, so magical, so damn... perfect.

I think the highest compliment I can pay it is that when I'm playing other games, deep down inside I wish I was rather playing Wind Waker instead.

I'm the same, Amiga then PSX I'm afraid.

Funny thing is - TWW was my first Zelda purchase, although I'm currently playing through OoT first (bonus disk) and loving it!! Haven't even watched the intro to TWW yet!

Probably a good idea Roobarb... as WW is the direct sequel to OoT (as usually the Zelda games have been going backwards in history, but this time they've gone forwards) then playing OoT should give you:

            a) a good grounding in how to play WW
            b) some info about where WW starts and
            c) allow you to spot some of the little "tributes" to OoT in WW
Lie with passion and be forever damned...

If that's how you feel, re-visiting the earlier games in the series is a must. OoT is WW but more and still my personal favourite of the pair.

OoT is my favourite game ever and brings back so many great memories.

You're lucky if WW does the same.

The first I played was Zelda 2 and it's my favourite by a long shot. At least you die now and then. I got bored half way though the others because they didn't present any challenge.

I'm loving it too \o/ ........ it has sorted out what I didn't like about OoT (which was hardly anything - it being a complete classic )

I first played Link's Awakening first on the Game Boy. I can't remember why I wanted to play it but I remember a burning desire to get the Jap import version before being warned of it's japanese text-heavy nature and being pointed to the english language version that was yet to be released. It had so many interesting ideas, such as the combination of items in the 'open' button configuration and the exploration featured in the game was wonderful for a game seen on such a small medium. I'm glad I played that before moving on to A Link to the Past as it seems to be a logical progression with larger worlds, more items, a generally souped-up experience. As a kid, I doubt I would have appreciated a downscaling of the series to fit on the GB so much.

I guess Link's Awakening does have some happy memories although my recent forays into plalying the Capcom Zelda games for the GBC have taught me that the formula isn't fool-proof, it still takes a certain sparkle to make the game as lovable as ever, which kinda makes me appreciate Link's Awakening more.

I remember my first Zelda as if it were yesterday. I came home from school one evening to find A Link To The Past waiting for me. I had saved for months and finally it was mine. My mum had to forcibly remove me from the SNES joypad that evening. Bliss

just a small question, how does OOT look on the GC anyway? my mate is playing through it on his N64 and to be honest i don't remember it being that kinda crazy blurry...

please tell me it's all lovely and clear looking and i'll go out and purchase it for my (as yet unpurchased) GC
