I needed a break from Final Fantasy 11 this weekend, so decided to stick on an old favorite - Castlevania for the GBA.
I remember when it was released it was said it was a bit drab and at the time I agreed, on the original GBA it looked washed out and brown. Replaying it on the GBA player though it's lush. Colours are really vibrant and varied. The Pane-glassed window sections are typically gothic but gorgeous.
I'm just impressed with how good this game really is. I'm about 40% in and I'm as hooked as I was the first time. The randomnimity(sp?) of the card system (having to rely on random card-drops from enemies) to power your special attacks is a bit of a flaw, but a savepoint is never far away.
The subtle curve of increasing difficulty enemies, levelling up, gaining new abilities, armor and cards... it all seems so right. Looking forward to playing this some more tonight.
