The pistol was, arguably, too good a weapon.

They have a new auto rifle\pistol combo, I believe. Automatic fire normally, and single shot when zoomed in. I think it is a shame personally, as I use the pistol in multiplayer constantly and usually not zoomed in. As Smitty rightly says though, it was massively overpowered. No weapon should be able to dominate as much as the Pistol does.
Lots of player stats are essential, especially at the end of each game. And I also like the idea of lockable menusNeed some way to get the linked up Xbox's to hurry the F up when joining a game too.
Smitty, I completely agree that it seems like Bungie are going all out for the sequel, not just a lazy update. I was just saying that, for once, I'd have been very happy with a lazy update. I just hope Bungie don't go too far and harm the feeling. I have faith, though.

Oh yes another new weapon (that some don't seem to have heard of) the Covenant Carbine: http://nikon.bungie.org/pressscans/oxm.0604/5.jpg
And these are the two best articles on Halo 2 i've seen:

Remember, this is Bungie. Bungie have never failed to deliver. Ever. (apart from Halo's second half but that's cause they were rushed by microsoft and it's just my opinion i know you lot disagree i still like the game but think it could've had a lot more time spent on it but don't kill me please.)

Originally posted by Ulisounds like you are talking about the new Battle Rifle, pete!? sure this would make a good substitute for the Pistol - at least in mid-ranged combat. but despite, where did you get the info that the Pistol wont make it?
If they can recapture 'those' moments from the Atttack on the Control Room level, then H2 will be a winner.
The new Assult maps in multiplayer look like a winner, and I'm really glad they've given you the ability to have four different teams. Whether or not this means four people in co-op is...uhh...unlikely, but would be oh so cool

There is one feature from the first game that i think a lot of people have been taken for granted that it will be included in halo 2, and that is SPLIT-SCREEN mutiplayer.
I am a little concerned that Bungie may focus too much on Live multiplayer and not include this feature, just like Rainbow 6, Doom 3 and Unreal 2.
This is one feature that i've found next to no info on apart from bungie saying "we are exploring ways to make multiplayer games more enjoyable for gamers with only 2 controllers and no Live access."
I am also on Xbox live but it pales in comparison to a LAN match. I often play original halo system link but with only two tv cuz it's a bit of a hassle to organise more. Its so incredable with eight people all in the same room. I'm worried that i'm not going to be able to do this with Halo 2. They have confirmed that "Each player can use an individual box in LAN games (up to 16 boxes)" but NOTHING ABOUT SPLIT SCREEN.
When looking at the new screen shots and videos of halo 2 on the interweb, I'm not sure if the xbox could handle the game in split screen, looks like it's already using every last bit of power from the console.
This is my only real concern.

I'm slightly worried the balance will be lost. I don't like the look of the 'dual wielding'. Especially those Uzis. Am I alone in thinking they looked crap? And the Ghosts Boost is a terrible idea in my opinion, it was bad enough at normal speed being run over all the time.
But being more positive, I do think Bungie know what they're doing and will come up with all the answers.
-Stats for multiplayer would be amazing, just like Perfect Dark. I think they're pretty much a cert looking at other LIVE games.
-Bots would be nice and to be able to customise their manner/aggression aswell (again like Perfect Dark)
-A vehicle carrying a large group of players (at least 8) would be AMAZING in multiplayer. Imagine dropping off your team behind enemy lines <dribbles>
-CUSTOMISATION is the word. Options, Options, Options. Mainly in Multiplayer. Things like toggling the Ghost boost, picking each weapon not just sets, etc....
To summerise: Call RARE, copy EVERYTHING Perfect Dark had re:multiplayer and add 4
= Halo 2: Bestest & Fastest & More
