    Getting Good At WE6 Freekicks.

Getting good at freekicks in Gamecubes seminal Winning Eleven 6 FE is essential to beat good teams on higher levels. I have found an alarming regularity in the times that my buddies and the gamecube bring down my man on the edge of the box. Long sick of hitting my free kicks over the bar, I put in major practice on the Umbro training section. No longer do my friends hack me down outside of the box, safe in the knowledge that on about 50% of the time I will score from the freekick. Nearly 2/3 of the time I get a corner after a save from the goalie if the ball doesn't go in.

All I need to do know is get good at the freekicks on or around the half way line. I usually try chipping a ball in, but have had no luck in creating much. Anybody any idea of what sort of things I should try from kicks on the halfway line?

I doubt there'd actually be a good tactic to use from free kicks in this situation, I'd just pass it and start building play up again.

Id go for a O shot while holding forwards.

      On a related topic,

what the furthest distance that you have scored from?

I came close to scroing with Gilberto Silva just in the other half (i hit the bar!)

My brother and I can usually score 1 in 3 free kicks... it depends on the condition of the person taking it and the distance from goal. Anything on the edge of the box we need to go practice I think. Furthest is probably about 40m so far...
Lie with passion and be forever damned...

A really cheap and nasty tactic with free kicks out of shooting distance is to aim roughly to the middle of the box, hold down on the pad and charge up long pass all the way. This just smacks a really hard, low ball towards goal - rebounds and flukey goals will come your way with this tactic, but people will hate you

            Like it.

I've recently been experimenting freekicks that use swerve - not managed to score one though. I always seem to get it just over or hit the bar. ft:

My most successful method is to just aim for the top corner and hold up with half power - works about 33% of the time.

On WE6:FE the free kick controls have been re-jigged making it really easy to score anything between 19-32m - If you use a good player like Rivaldo, Recoba, Veron, Figo etc you should be able to score about 75%.

Damn, and there was me thinking I got good by practice ft:
Furthest out? 35 or so yards on a free kick.
From free play? Well inside my half when my brother pushed his keeper up for play and I lobbed it in.

I do similar but hold up, the keeper goes the way the ball is going and the slighest touch will take it into the other corner.

Me and brother have noticed how some keepers come off their line when their team has possesion. Around 50% chance of scoring a Beckham like lob if quickly intercepted and shot. Really annoying if scored against you though!

My furthest free kick was with Argies Batistuta against Holland from 38 yards out, I cried when I couldnt save it!!!!!

The keeper AI brings them all out to the edge of the box at some point, best method of lobbing is holding L1 and using the right analogue stick to long pass it over the keepers head. Takes a bit of practice mind...
