Retro and import game shops :

If everyone could post their favourite / best / etc shop for retro or import games we could get a pretty useful directory going on...

(ps. especially NES stuff ) Oh and anyone say GAME then you should be ashamed...

...and if you could say what that particular shop does best then this would help too, i.e. a shop that specialises in 2600 games.

While they have a decent selection of games from old and new console, I was gobsmacked at some of the prices. They seem really expensive when compared to other sites.

for neo geo stuff they are the cheapest in the uk

by miles btw, ravensgames, telegames and cex dont even come close and the customer service is excellent

Telegames is by far the most expensive. Their prices are ludricous for some of the retro stuff (?200 for a Jap SNES Jr. or ?45+ for the DKC games). When it comes to the older gear I'd rather go through a little more hassle on eBay and save a fortune.

of course and so do i

but with ebay you have the uncertainty that the item is not as described and that the seller actually has the item he is selling

but the poster wanted online stores and i'm sure that he knows that ebay exsists so i was giving him other options

i personally buy most of my stuff here, and at the neo forums rather than ebay because with neo stuff its sometimes hope for the best and see what happens

normally only deal with guys that i know and with regards to videogameimports Lee Mallabar is just above the rest when it comes to uk stores, his service is second to none - just my opinion

but to be honest i normally deal with VG+, DBO and others because the uk prices can be so Extortionate

i bought my tales of symphonia from DBO for 60.95cad shipped which is around ?24, VGI have it for ?43 before shipping

even a member here is trying to get ?35 for it - fair play its cheaper than most importers in the uk but the best option is to buy from outside to UK to be honest

I rarely buy stuff within the UK now. maybe this is due to the weak dollar right now, but the only stuff I buy in the UK is Megadrive and Master System stuff, and all off ebay. UK sellers are too expensive (Telegames "we charge ?4 extra postage per item because we're *****" and ravengames "we're just expensive" and CEX "we like to sandpaper your games before you buy them" just can go to hell for all I care).

New US GC/Xbox games I'll get from DBO or VG+.

For UK stores, I know the games exchange in notting hill and its pretty poor overall.

Game Focus on Goodge St in London is a cool shop tho. they are my favourite importer, thats GAME FOCUS, on GOODGE ST. Buy from them!

I've heard good things about videogameimports.com, and I've bought from them once before, but they are so expensive for the most part, I tend to look abroad (again, perhaps due to the current exchange rates).

CEX are alright: I've had some bargains from there (occasionally, admittedly).
